Bar-brasserie-restaurant offering family cuisine at a very good value for money in Lacanau.
The bar-brasserie-restaurant La Gaïté is located in Lacanau city, close to the boutique Les Filles de l 'Ocean. The market every week takes place right across the street. Accustomed, inhabitants of the area like to find it for the morning coffee or evening aperitif in summer, but not that, because every noon, summer and winter, the large restaurant room is full and we understand why: The restaurant is a family-run kitchen, prepared with fresh produce, plates are copious but mostly very good and the midi formulas are very good value for money. We enjoyed the foie gras on its green bed (salad), we were pleasantly surprised by the veal head presented with its broth, all very good, about the skewed skewer, nothing to say, perfect cooking, just a small beetle on the fries a little grilled but frankly the whole meal was rather. satisfactory. We've even forgotten the noisy room and the young waitress, and not very smiling at the beginning, because the boss, very nice and small care for his clients, has been pretty busy with our table. We will have a good value for money, a tasty cuisine and a smile of the boss… Note that it is very important to have lunch on the summer terrace because the atmosphere is always very friendly.

Depuis le changment de propriétaire en 2023, La Gaité n'est plus ce qu'elle était avant. Temps d'attente entre l'arrivé au resto et l'arrivé du plat : 1 heure ! Et le resto n'était qu'à moitié plein... Une serveuse qui vous ignore (et sert <<à la tête du client>> ceux et celle qu'elle préfère), et sa collègue qui vous refère à celle qui vous ignore. Service tellement lent que lors de votre commande, le menu du jour (16,50€ ou 14,50€) est épuisé. Les moules frites sont ok, mais une sur dix ne s'ouvrait pas -> temps de cuisson insuffisant. La table n'était pas nettoyé correctement. Il fallait commander du pain.
Bref, La Gaité d'aujourd'hui est une déception. On n'y reviendra plus pour l'instant. Heureusement, il y a des alternatives à Lacanau Ville : La Casemate ***** ou A Coté **** !
2016 : Excellente relation qualité - prix. On aime le menu de midi, petit (12.90€) ou grand (19.50€). Un exemple pour ce dernier: foie gras aux figues, sauté de veau aux mangues, crème brûlée (mangé le 15 octobre 2016). Clientèle mixte, des locaux surtout mais aussi quelques touristes. Ouvert toute l'année.
