In the 18th century, the Halles de Routot, Normandy's linen capital, specialized in the marketing of linen cloth, a plant widely grown in the region. This eco-museum is dedicated to the cultivation and exploitation of this small, blue-flowered, delicate-looking but highly resistant plant. You'll discover the tools used to grow, harvest and process flax, as well as weaving and fabric care. Exhibitions, demonstrations and the Linen Festival take place in June, not forgetting the sale of household linen.

Le petit musée juste à côté est plutôt sympa, il pourrait être amélioré grandement et remis au goût du jour lui aussi, en offrant une bien meilleure expérience que de simples vitrines et machines mises en exposition (voir la visite gratuite de la fromagerie E.Graindorge qui fait bien mieux sur ce point, ils ont tout compris, ils ont même une monnaie de Paris) . La boutique s'est nettement améliorée depuis 2021, il y a maintenant pas mal d'articles variés et pour toutes les bourses.
Les personnes travaillant là bas sont très aimable et font admirablement bien leur travail ????

Il aurait été intéressant de voir l'évolution des techniques de transformation du lin dans le temps
