Castle ruins overlooking the Seine, offering a view of the river, medieval games, and re-enacted camps.

Overlooking the Seine, the ruins of Château Gaillard bear witness to the past of one of the region’s most famous fortresses and offer a unique view of the Seine, Petit-Andely, and the cliffs in the distance. Classified as a historic monument since 1862 and listed as a major national site, Château Gaillard has inspired painters, poets, and other contemporary artists. In August, medieval games and re-enacted camps are held here at weekends, as well as workshops for children. Take advantage of the group ticket with the Nicolas Poussin Museum.

FRANCJA Omijając od północy Paryż i jego korki natrafiłem na kolejną perełkę z czasów średniowiecza. Zamek położony jest na szczycie wzgórza w zakolu Sekwany. Rozciąga się z niego piękny widok na miasto rzekę i okolicę. Od strony rzeki wzgórze jest wyrzeźbioną przez wieki płynąca rzeką pionową ścianą. Od drugiej strony i parkingu jest łagodne podejście z którego można podziwiać sam zamek jak i roztaczające się widoki. W samym zamku który jest ruiną jest niewiele do zobaczenia. Jednak niska cena 3,5 euro jak i możliwość zakupu pamiątki z tego miejsca nie odstręcza wielu turystów. Napotkałem na swojej drodze wiele dam i rycerzy w wieku od 5 do 10 lat którzy świetnie się bawili w trakcie jego zwiedzania z pamiątkami w rękach lub na sobie ????

That's nice to walk around and discover the history of this castle full of intrigue, love and murder. The innermost part was closed to the public today. Maybe under renovation, but the rest was open. Not much to see, but nice stop on the road and great views. Nice walks too if you're coming from Les Andelys or even from the first parking.

Beautiful old castle from 1200. Be prepared to walk up steep hill. Top is 300 ft above sea level. Great panoramic views of Seine River and valleys.

D extérieur sympa à visiter. Par contre pas pu visiter l intérieur des ruines. Car sur les sites ils disent chien autorisé. Une fois sur place c est juste chien de guide. Dc très déçu de ce côté. Surtout quand on fait 1h de route exprès.
