Overlooking the Seine, the ruins of Château-Gaillard bear witness to the past of one of the region's most famous fortresses, and offer a unique view of the Seine, Petit-Andely and the cliffs in the distance. Classified as a historic monument since 1862 and listed as a major national site, Château-Gaillard has inspired painters, poets and other contemporary artists. In August, medieval games and re-enacted camps are held there at weekends, as well as workshops for children. Take advantage of the group ticket with the Nicolas Poussin Museum.

Grâce au plan et aux explications, on se projette bien dans ce qui était un château dominant la Seine et les Andelys.
Les ruines sont bien conservées et le donjon est impressionnant pour l'épaisseur de ses murs (4 mètres).
Le site vaut le déplacement, aussi pour les promenades alentour.
