CFA DE CANAPPEVILLE ARBORETUM
This arboretum has various species of exotic hardwoods with explanatory markers in a playful and educational way.
Or how a field of experimentation becomes a place of balade and curiosity! Created in 1952 to study the possibilities for the adaptation of conifers in Normandy, this forest arboretum grew in different species of exotic hardwood from the 60 s. Throughout a specified course of 1 200 metres, 40 explanatory terminals present the different species in a playful and educational way: did you know that giant red cedar was used to make totems, that Douglas needles have a parfum scent, that Redwood was introduced into Europe by immigrants who discovered it in the Gold rush? This arboretum is set up in a rearing training centre where children can attend trafficking and animal care. You can go back with your full bidon (50 cents euros per litre if you have a container, 1 € if provided). In the autumn, mushrooms can be collected freely (ceps, chanterelles, vintages, death trumpets) on the site.
