The Maison des Sourds de la Gironde is a humanitarian and social association. It positions itself as a representative of deaf and hard-working people with government and institutional bodies. Its mission is to bring together all the deaf associations in the department, to support them in their sporting and cultural activities, to also implement the training of French Sign Language, or to encourage sport and cultural development for deaf and hard-hearing people. It has also developed Siracasm, a service to persons who are deaf and hard of hearing, to help in the professional or administrative process, to carry out telephone relays or to help write mail, for example.
