Guided tours proposed by the tourist office, to discover the underground passages of the citadel of Blaye

Throughout the year, the Blaye Tourist Office offers guided tours of the underground passages of the citadel, a UNESCO World Heritage site. In these stone corridors, you will walk in the footsteps of Louis XIV's garrisons, in charge of protecting the Gironde estuary. This one-hour tour in the bowels of the citadel allows you to understand the functioning of the fortress' defensive system. The rest of the citadel is accessible free of charge, and for a small supplement you can visit the old prison and the archaeological museum.

Opening time and information on Guided tour of the underground passages of the Blaye citadel

Guided tours of the citadel through the underground passages every day except December 25th and January 1st. Departure at 2:30 pm from November 1st to February 29th. In March, April, May, until June 22nd and from September 21st departure at 2.30pm every day + a departure at 4pm on weekends and public holidays. From 22 June to 20 September departures at 11am, 2pm, 3.30pm and 5pm. Adult: 7 €. Child (from 5 to 12 years old) : 5 € (free - 5 years old).

Chouette restaurant avec vue sur la mer. Nous avons mangé le soir, en intérieur : bons produits, bien préparés et dressés. Le service est parfois approximatif, mais toujours avec beaucoup de gentillesse et d'attention : c'est un vrai plaisir! Au niveau ambiance, l'éclairage est un peu fort et écrase l'atmosphère tout en masquant le paysage.
Globalement, une très bonne adresse!

Je conseille ce restaurant, caché au coeur de la citadelle de Blaye. Très bonne cuisine, une ambiance jazzy grâce à une sublime chanteuse et un super musicien, vue sur l’estuaire ou sur la piscine de l’hotel.
Nous nous sommes régalés et nous reviendrons. Merci au personnel pour la chanson de joyeux anniversaire!????????????
