The grocery stores extend to National square on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday mornings. On Friday afternoon, only the covered market opens its doors. It is in Baltard style and replaced the halls in 1883. There are more fresh products to cook in family homes than gastronomic souvenirs for holidaymakers. Those who appreciate the atmosphere of the markets covered will spend a good time there and find some very good products for a picnic: terrine fish, honey-based treats, local vegetables. The neighbourhood already had a commercial vocation in the Middle Ages: The studios were then drapers, furs and butchers. In the th century, the parliament of Franche-Comté was established in this district and a monumental college was built in the xvith century. There are still beautiful fragments of medieval sculptures at No. 24 of square.
