This square has kept its role as a crossroads and market place in Bazas, and is home to some remarkable private mansions, which are worth discovering.
As we can learn, " the western part, a sagging trapezoid of 4,600 m², linked to the Mercadilh merchant suburb, dates back to the end of the 12th century. The eastern part, linked to the cathedral, is of more recent construction (19th century). The square has always retained its role as a crossroads and market place . Among the many buildings on the square are some remarkable private mansions. The most prestigious, the Astronomer's House, is located at No. 23. Also detail the facade of n° 32, it is the former presidial (18th century).
