BATH FORGES

A pearl of the Franc-Comtois industrial heritage, created in the ^16th century. Today's superb buildings date from the ^18th century. In the heyday of industry, one hundred and twenty workers produced iron and cast iron for the major cities. In the ^19th century, due to water and wood shortages, iron and coal production declined. The forge came to a halt around 1820, and the blast furnace went out around 1870. Today, an association brings the site to life, organizing tours, exhibitions and other events.
