A journey through history and time! Housed in the Granvelle Palace, a superb Renaissance building, the museum pays tribute to the history and tradition of watchmaking in Besançon. As you walk through the three floors of the palace, you will discover rich and varied collections, from the sundial to the atomic clock, and including tapestries on the history of Charles V. After admiring Foucault's pendulum, which demonstrates that the earth rotates, the visit ends with the palace tower, which offers a superb view of the city's rooftops.

November 2 to March 31 (excluding school holidays): Tues. to Fri. 2 to 6pm In high season April 1 to October 31, and during school holidays in zone A: Tues. to Fri. 10am-12.30pm and 2 to 6pm. Year-round, Sat. and Sun. 10am-6pm. Free admission for children under 18. Adults: €9. Children welcome. Guided tours.

Il y a de l'horlogerie ancienne et une histoire de l'horlogerie présente par des pièces rares. Il y a une réplique du pendule de Foucault, pendules comtoises, de cheminées, etc. Il y a aussi des pièces intéressantes de l'histoire de Besançon des tentures exceptionnelles, sculptures, peintures, etc. Le tout est dans un palais du XVIe siècle ancienne demeure des Granvelle d'où son nom. Je connaissais ce musée il y a une trentaine d'années et il me semble s'être nettement amélioré.
C'est un lieu incontournable à visiter à Besançon, visite fortement conseillée.
Montres, horloges , boule de Foucauld, tapisseries, etc.... très captivant !!!
