Museum in Corte, presenting a panorama of the culture and traditions of rural Corsica at the top of the Corsican identity

The visit to the museum is part of the discovery of the citadel: the oldest and only one built inland, with as its strong point U Castellu, the eagle's nest that was built in 1419 by Vincentello of Istria, in the pay of the King of Aragon. Opened in June 1997, the museum presents a panorama of the culture and traditions of rural Corsica in the Mecca of Corsican identity. The Serrurier barracks, built in the 19th century by the French army, was renovated by the architect Andrea Bruno. A nice visit is a must!

Wird noch renoviert ist aber einen Besuch wert. Auch interessant ist das Museum, aber alles nur auf Französisch.

Mooie site met de oude citadel als buitengedeelte van het museum. Vooral de omgeving loont de moeite want van een nieuw museum van Corsica had ik toch meer verwacht. De permanente tentoonstelling bevat vooral folkloristische objecten zonder veel context. De video animatie bij de maquette van de citadel is het enige wat echt uitgewerkt is maar dan weer veel te langdradig. Dit had veel beter gekund. Nergens vind je hier bv een overzicht van de geschiedenis van Corsica van prehistorie tot heden of het verhaal van de herders had bv kunnen uitgewerkt worden aan de hand van portretten of video interviews.
