Created in 1972, the Parc naturel régional de Corse covers 51% of the island's territory. Its mission is to protect the environment, raise public awareness and maintain major itineraries: on the one hand, seven Randonnées Découverte (discovery hikes) - three Mare à Mare, three Mare è Monti and the Sentier de la Transhumance; on the other, the GR20, reserved for the most experienced hikers, from Calenzana to Conca. Reservations for GR20 huts are required at www.pnr-resa.corsica
