Created by the Genoese at the end of the 14th century, the Palais des Gouverneurs is today the Museum of Bastia. A fortress in the heart of the city, it is currently dedicated to Bastia and its place in Corsican history. With a permanent display of collections, the museum allows you to discover paintings, furniture, sculptures, artifacts and multimedia that will give you access to seven centuries of history of the city and Corsica. The Musée des Beaux-Arts includes some of the paintings from the collection that Cardinal Fesch bequeathed to Bastia on his death.

Opening time and information on BASTIA MUSEUM
From May 2 to September 30: 10am to 6:30pm. Closed Mondays in May, June and September. Closed on May 1st and 8th. Open daily in July and August. From October 1st to April 30th: 9am-12pm and 2pm-5pm. Closed on Sundays and Mondays. Closed on the 1st and 11th of November.

The enclosure boasts collections revolving around history and the fine arts. You'll discover sculptures, paintings, furniture, artifacts and multimedia that reveal seven centuries of the city's and Corsica's history. Italian paintings from the 17th and 18th centuries are also on display. Each year, the museum organizes a major temporary exhibition or revisits the island's heritage and history. And it regularly hosts numerous cultural events. This historic monument is well worth a visit!
