A seigniory housing workshops that emphasize respect, conservation and enhancement of cultural heritage.
This museum, unlike any other, is dedicated to architecture, art, witchcraft and Alsatian culture throughout history, particularly in the Pays de Barr. It is housed in the former Renaissance mansion of the Sires d'Andlau. It features superb scrolled gables, an attractive carved door and a polygonal turret housing a spiral staircase. A vast relief map of the region shows the major landscapes that make up the Pays de Barr: the plains, the foothills and Vosges mountains, and the mountains.
The permanent exhibition features various interactive points of interest. Construction, observation, recognition and association games invite visitors to discover the region's heritage in a fun and educational way, through the construction of a timber-framed house, the building of a fortified castle and the lifestyle of a Renaissance lord.
As for the temporary exhibitions, they traditionally highlight little-known facets of the region's habits and customs. This year's exhibition is entitled "1525, a springtime of freedom". Composers, painters, sculptors, writers, poets and other personalities are all on show!
In addition, there are a number of one-off events: workshops led by craftspeople, conferences, concerts, afterworks/tastings... All year round (except for the annual closure in January), La Seigneurie has a host of surprises in store for you!
