TRAP TOWER
23-metre-high tower with a 7-metre diameter, part of the surviving walls of the castle ruins.
On the heights of Piégut, a strategic site has stood the test of time. First a wooden watchtower in the 9th century, then a fortified castle with seven towers and a keep, perhaps the heir to a Gallo-Roman oppidum. Today, several walls remain, along with the keep and the imposing Tour de Piégut, 23 meters high and 7 meters in diameter. Built on a motte castrale in the 13th century, it was captured by the English in 1336 and 1426, before being listed as a Monument Historique in 1992. A striking vestige of the medieval past.
