In the heart of the natural park of the Arient forest, Mathaux is a rural commune of 200 inhabitants. You can admire the church of Saint-Quentin, notable for its half-timbered walls, which dates from the 18th century. It underwent a thorough restoration in 1983 - identical - after the collapse of its steeple and part of the building. The town is famous for having welcomed the painter and varnisher Martin Claude Dorez (1704-1753) who worked on the earthenware of the town. In Mathaux, you can see the water circle. An interesting circuit allows you to visit the Treasury of the Park churches and the timber-framed churches of the Aube.
