ABRI PATAUD
It is one of the biggest prehistoric sites of France, located at the village exit towards Périgueux. It reveals the paths of the Cro-Magnon man. This is one of the few prehistoric sites in the region that shows an excavation site and presents the archaeologists' techniques. You can see tools, ornamental objects, works of art, habitats, remains of game, tombs and bones of our ancestors, which are highlighted on the place of excavations. Staging with stratigraphic sections makes it possible to follow the sequence of prehistoric occupation from -33,000 years to -18,000 years. An ibex carved in bas-relief is one of the most impressive appearances of the visit. The authentic objects exposed and the result of work of the researchers allow you to form a more precise idea of Cro-Magnon.
