You can spend two hours in the village, or the whole day, and get caught up in this beautiful journey through time.

The 8-hectare Parc du Bournat presents scenes from rural life and the popular history of Périgord in 1900: school benches, farms and crops, old trades and craftsmen (walnut oil mill, still, locomobile, limonaire, tools, horse-drawn carriages...), toys and festivities, objects from everyday life in those days. There's a whole host of entertainment in the village: working craftsmen revive ancestral trades, country bread is baked, there's a blacksmith's forge, a funfair with old-fashioned merry-go-rounds, and old-fashioned games such as skittles. Comedians animate the streets in period costume. A workshop will show you how to build a replica of the Blériot XI, Louis Blériot's plane with which he crossed the English Channel (116 years ago) on July 25, 1909, in 37 minutes, the 40 km separating Calais from Dover. It was his 32nd attempt!

Parc du Bournat offers an approach rich in history and learning. Each visitor can take the time to understand and observe the gestures, and even to learn them. The craftsmen are happy to patiently explain their daily tricks of the trade, and mastery is not lost at Le Bournat. Children are taken care of in handicraft workshops (pen-and-ink writing, pottery to get hands-on and learn how to bring an object to life). Climb aboard the Stanley Mountain Wagon, a faithful replica of the legendary American bus of the early 20th century, and discover the park in a whole new way! Please note that activities may vary according to the shape of the old machine. Transform yourself for a moment into an early 20th-century village dweller at the vintage photo workshop, or enjoy a ride in a horse-drawn carriage or boat! You can also visit a mini-farm, a real old-fashioned farmyard with goats, rabbits, geese, sheep and ducks. You can spend two hours in the village, or all day... In high season, you can enjoy an unforgettable evening with fireworks, a country-style buffet, bandas and a guinguette. Catering options include sit-down or stand-up, fast or slow. From Chez Paul to La Roulotte gourmande, from La rôtisserie chez Odette to Le Glacier-Pâtissier and La Brasserie, there's no shortage of choice. You'll leave the park wanting to come back! You can also reserve all or part of the Parc du Bournat for a family event, seminar or wedding.

Such a disappointment. Hardly any employees around. Only 3 artisans demonstrating work. The others were earlier in the day or the next day. No schedule provided to know when demonstrations would be. The park looks like it has not been maintained since 1900. Very dingy and sad. Not worth the entry fee especially when you have to pay extra inside. 5 euros to write with a quill? Just highly disappointed.
