PÉRIGORD-LIMOUSIN REGIONAL NATURE PARK
The PNR Périgord-Limousin is an area rich in incredible natural and cultural heritage, from the Dordogne to the Haute-Vienne.
The Périgord-Limousin Regional Nature Park, created in 1998 and covering 1,900 km² and 75 communes, straddles two départements, Dordogne and Haute-Vienne, in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region. It comprises 4 tourist and landscape entities: the Limousin bocage, the hardwood forest, the Jumilhac plateau and Isle valleys, and the Périgord valleys. This unspoilt region, with its human dimensions and rich heritage, is home to almost 51,000 inhabitants.
The Park offers an annual program of free events, "Les rendez-vous du Parc", on the themes of biodiversity, aquatic environments, arts and crafts, heritage, etc. The program can be consulted online, and is also available from all tourist offices in the region.
A Terra Aventura geocaching circuit around the Maison du Parc, near the Etang de la Barde, is accessible to families (2.5 km). There are many other treasure-hunting trails in the area. Discover their Top 3! For the more energetic, the Grande Boucle du Parc, with over 200 km of marked trails, can be completed in 10 days' walking or 3 to 4 days' mountain biking (free guide published by the park).
In addition, the Vézelay Way crosses the park (a free guide is available, co-published with the Département).
The Park also takes part in national programs such as Nuit de la chouette (owl night) and Nuit de la chauve-souris (bat night). The Park's website offers a wide range of downloadable documentation (orchid discovery, tourist map, arts and crafts guide, etc.).
Finally, the "Mon Parc Périgord-Limousin" mobile application lets you discover natural environments and species, heritage sites, a calendar of outings, hiking trails... and chat with Park staff.
