Jumilhac-le-Grand is set in rolling greenery: the château overlooks the Isle gorges on the historic Richard the Lionheart route, named after the illustrious king who, after attacking Jumilhac and Hautefort, met his death at the siege of Châlus-Chabrol in 1199. Remodeled during the Renaissance, then transformed in the 17th century, it was bought in 1927 by the Jumilhac family, who have been restoring it ever since, even creating a tea room in 2021. The terraced gardens, renovated in the French style, are well worth a visit. Summer evenings are enlivened by shows and nocturnes.

Opening time and information on CHATEAU DE JUMILHAC
Château open every day except Christmas and New Year's Day. From June to September, daily from 10am to 7pm, with evening visits every Tuesday from 9:30pm to 11:30pm (plus Thursdays in July and August). From April 1 to November 15, daily from 2pm to 6pm. Saturdays and Sundays from 2pm to 5pm or by appointment. Gardens open from April to October. Adult admission: €10.50, concessions: €8.50, children aged 5-11: €5.50. Free for children under 5. Accessible roofs subject to availability: €7.50.
