This castle, built by order of Louis XI, houses an important collection of tapestries.
Built on the orders of Louis XI to impose his authority west of Tours, the Château de Langeais witnessed the marriage of Charles VIII and Anne de Bretagne in 1491, in the greatest secrecy. The scene is recreated using wax figures with realistic physiognomies and an audiovisual show. A new scenography, as none other than Stéphane Bern, renowned presenter and history and heritage enthusiast, recounts the story that led to the beginning of Brittany's attachment to the French crown.
The Château de Langeais also boasts a major collection of tapestries. The most famous of these is the Neuf Preux (16th century, Aubusson). Since 2021, a new space has been recreating a weaver's workshop, with its loom, essential tools and skeins of wool. An educational setting to help visitors understand the context that encouraged the development of this art form.
Thanks to a specially designed application, take a different approach to your visit, with explanations from Jacques Siegfried, the château's last owner, who will take you on a tour of his rich collection and tell you all about the history of the site. A guided tour, but at your own pace and to your own taste.

Les jardins, les mobiliers d'époque et les explications toute au long de la visite sont superbes.
Un beau vestige du donjon.
Une belle reconstruction du mariage caché.... avec la voix de Stéphane Bern, très très bien fait. Merci pour l'accueil et ce lieu. De bon et beau resto devant le château pour se poser après une visite.
