This castle, built by order of Louis XI, houses an important collection of tapestries.

Built on the orders of Louis XI in order to impose his authority west of Tours, the castle of Langeais witnessed the marriage of Charles VIII and Anne of Brittany in 1491, in the greatest secrecy. The scene is reconstructed with the help of wax characters with realistic physiognomies and an audiovisual show. A renewed scenography since it is none other than Stéphane Bern, renowned presenter and passionate about history and heritage, who tells this story that caused the beginning of the attachment of Brittany to the crown of France.
The castle of Langeais is also an important collection of tapestries. The most famous being the one of the Nine Preux (16th century, Aubusson). Since 2021, a new space reconstitutes a weaver's workshop, with its loom, its essential tools and its skeins of wool. A pedagogical setting for the visitor to understand the context that favored the development of this art.
Thanks to a specially designed application, take a different approach to the visit with the explanations of Jacques Siegfried, the last owner of the castle, who will take you on a tour of his rich collection and tell you the history of the place. A guided tour in a way, but at your own pace and taste.
Finally, many events are organized throughout the year: chivalry workshop for children, visits with Anne of Brittany, Easter egg hunt, falconry shows, Christmas in the land of castles... Do not hesitate to consult the castle's agenda on its website!

Chateau de Langeais is ideally located in the city and offers a beautiful view of the Loire, since its park. The guided tour is pleasant even if all rooms did not review. The park is also to be seen with the keep which offers a beautiful view of the garden, the courtyard and the castle. The walkway, in the wake of the 9 valiant knights, is also interesting.
