Located in Gabillou, near the caves of Lascaux, Périgueux, Hautefort and Sarlat, the Truffière des Mérigots is a truffle-growing estate certified organic by Ecocert since 2012. This 5-hectare truffle farm is the ideal place for truffle and nature lovers. It offers truffles renowned for their quality, grown with respect for the environment. Here, you'll find around 1,600 trees of various species, such as pubescent oaks, holm oaks, colurnas, cedars, Austrian black pines, lime trees and hornbeams, planted on Jurassic red soils known to favor the development of fragrant truffles. While you're there, you'll have the chance to discover the secrets of truffle-growing through educational and immersive guided tours. Your expedition begins with a video showing the different truffle species, the characteristics of truffle-growing soils and the association between tree and fungus. You'll then set off in search of the precious black diamond, accompanied by the truffle grower and his dog Umi, an Australian shepherd expert in truffle digging. Come and discover the scent of truffles, their history, cultivation methods and special features. Your visit will conclude with a tasting of truffle toast and a drink, offering a unique taste experience. For an even more complete immersion experience, opt for the visit and lunch package, including a menu of truffle-based dishes such as winter truffle omelette and summer truffle ice cream. The Truffière des Mérigots also offers themed stays, including cooking and pastry classes, where you can learn to cook and enjoy truffle dishes.
