MOURNING CASTLE
This unique 12th-century fortress, with its double square keep, was the site of Richard the Lionheart's assaults and the poetry of Giraut de Bornelh, the troubadour celebrated by Dante. Its architecture is a blend of Romanesque keep, 14th-century dwelling and Renaissance pavilion, overlooking the Loue valley.
Both privately and municipally owned, the communal part of the château is freely accessible all year round, allowing visitors to stroll along the ramparts, enjoy the panoramic views and, from June to October, discover art exhibitions in the châtelet. Picnic area on site.
