A remarkable Gothic cathedral, the last of the century, a must-see in Lille.

This neo-Gothic building is the last cathedral of the 20th century. Its construction lasted from 1854 to 1999! Notre-Dame-de-la-Treille, then a basilica, was not designated a cathedral until 1914 by Pope Pius X. Provisionally clad in brick in 1947, the façade adopted its definitive appearance in the 1990s, thanks to the style of Pierre-Louis Carlier and Peter Rice. Surprisingly, the Treille facade remains one of the city's must-sees, popular with the locals in fine weather for a break on the steps or a drink on the terrace.

En dépit de la controverse sur sa façade, la cathédrale mérite le coup d’œil et se caractérise notamment par son ambiance chaleureuse. Les stations du Christ justifient également le détour.
