Restaurant in a local and modern setting in Lille, with hearty and harmonious dishes.

Between two bars of the rue Solférino, this address really deserves that we stop there! The staircase and the configuration of the place give the sensation of entering a narrow 1930's type house as there are so many in the Lille metropolis. As for the decoration, the choice of colors and materials (black, white, wood, marble) creates a modern atmosphere. The menu is short: the dishes are prepared on the spot, from raw products. At Max's, the traditional cuisine is copious and harmonious. This bias makes this address even more comfortable.

Fabulous little place to eat. The menu is small but the food was delicious & the staff were friendly & attentive (even spoke English with us as our French is so poor! ????). They were super helpful regarding GF options but as is often the case in France there were few options. Nevertheless we had a super time here & would definitely return. The only other comment would be that downstairs the ambiance needs some work - it felt less intimate than you’d expect for a Friday evening dinner.

“Bonjour, lors de ma récente visite dans votre restaurant, j’ai été déçu par plusieurs aspects de mon expérience. La qualité de la viande était médiocre, certains membres du personnel faisaient des allers-retours incessants à l’extérieur pour fumer, perturbant ainsi l’ambiance, et en plus de cela, le service était désagréable et froid. Je tenais à vous en informer dans l’espoir que ces problèmes puissent être résolus pour garantir une expérience plus satisfaisante à l’avenir pour tous les clients. J’ai eu le plaisir de dîner chez Max et j’en suis sortie absolument charmée. Les plats étaient copieux et fins, tout est fait maison avec passion. Une pensée particulière pour le merveilleux, meilleur que chez Fred !
L’ambiance est chaleureuse et on a été très vite servi. Il y a une grande salle en haut permettant d’accueillir un groupe.
Une bonne adresse à garder sous le coude !

Bien mais très bruyant . Frites pas terribles . Avons demandé à plusieurs reprises de l eau et de la mayo enfin obtenues mais à la fin du repas . Déçus par la quantité de la panna cotta en dessert
