During the Three Wise Men parade, Melchior, Gaspard and Balthazar reward the children who have been good. Competing with Santa Claus, the Three Wise Men are still an institution throughout Spain. In many families, children receive a small gift on Christmas Eve, but it is not until the arrival of the Three Kings that they receive a large gift. According to tradition, children who have not been good only receive a small canvas bag filled with sugar coals. In Formentera, the procession of the Three Wise Men arrives by boat in the port of La Savina.
