CELEBRATIONS DE NOËL

Every year, during the month of December, Christmas markets, with stalls selling handicrafts made on the island, nightly illumination of monuments and streets and festivities, are held in Sicilian towns until the climax on 24 and 25 December. The churches with their nativity scenes are the most spectacular. Among the most popular midnight and Christmas masses among Sicilians are those of Acireale, Trapani and the Palermo area of great fervour, but all the churches in the country are filled.
