The museum traces the episodes of the space conquest and details the stages for key aeronautical. Many attractions make it possible to experience of what the astronauts during the flights feel or in weightlessness. It is also possible to see the famous Saturn V rocket, which was designed for the program Apollo and made possible the first steps of man on the moon.

The Mobile Museum of Art (MMOFA) is located in Langan Park, a few kilometres from the city centre. Created in 1964, it is the largest art museum that can be found between New Orleans and Tampa. Its permanent collection hosts over 9 000 works covering two thousand years of culture. The museum also exhibits temporary exhibitions and regional artists.

The archaeological site of Moundville, located on the Black Warrior River near Tuscaloosa, has been identified as an ancient site belonging to the Mississippi Amerindian civilization. It was reportedly used for political and ceremonial purposes. The 75-hectare, 185-square-metre archaeological park
was declared a national historic monument in 1964 and would be the second most important Mississippi era site in the United States after Cahokia, Illinois.
