Some Caribbean in New Hampshire. On the menu, specialities from the sea and meat seasoned with the colour of the sun, simply seized at the grill. Test the stew of the sea.

Shibley's at the Pier is a local, family-run restaurant with a diverse and comprehensive menu. There are many American specialties to try, including barbecue ribs, crab cakes and pepperoni pizza. Typical New England recipes such as lobster roll, clams and salmon prepared in a variety of ways are also on offer. Service, provided by pleasant staff, is fast without being rushed. The beautiful terrace overlooking the lake is a big hit.

POLLY'S PANCAKE PARLOR

World cuisine restaurant
5/5
1 review

This former wood shed was converted into a tea room in 1938. The owners, maple syrup producers, had the idea of opening a restaurant area to promote their products. Since then, Polly and Will's daughter has taken over and expanded the establishment. From pancake batter to maple syrup to jam, everything is homemade... and everything is delicious. Needless to say, it's a very popular place for breakfast. This very nice address is located in Sugar Hill, less than 5 minutes drive from Franconia.

Located in the Mill Falls Hotel, on the shores of Lake Winnipesaukee, the Lakehouse Grill offers a wide range of seafood dishes, including haddock with lobster and sherry sauce, and the must-try lobster roll. It's an opportunity to sample New England specialties in a classic, family-friendly atmosphere. The menu also features a wide choice of meats and excellent grilled meats: rib-eye steak with mashed potatoes, roast chicken with quinoa, burger, etc. Prices are reasonable (with a lighter lunch menu) and portions well served.

WOLFE'S TAVERN

World cuisine restaurant €€

1 review

This is the Wolfeboro Inn's restaurant and, like the inn that houses it, it's one of the town's institutions. The atmosphere here is warm and rustic - the deer heads hanging on the walls add to the authenticity of the place. The menu features simple, hearty dishes, pizzas, sandwiches, burgers and salads. All in all, a typically American place, which doesn't leave an unforgettable impression as far as the food is concerned, but where the service is friendly and diligent. Reservations recommended (via the website).

QUEEN CITY CUPCAKES

World cuisine restaurant

Queen City Cupcakes is the perfect place for a rich and sweet snack. The cupcakes in this little shop run by locals come in every imaginable flavour, including maple syrup and bacon! Each day brings its own surprising flavours: Tuesday it's Guinness, Wednesday it's coconut, and so on. Don't get too big for your stomach: cupcakes may be cute, but one is more than enough to fill a small (or even a big) hollow. Original and tasty.

WOODSTOCK INN BREWERY

Impossible not to find happiness at Woodstock Station. Salads, burgers, sandwiches, pastas, pizzas, grills and Mexican dishes. The food is honest and the portions are generous. The place is especially noteworthy for its incomparable ambiance. A mix of regulars and tourists, the atmosphere is always festive, especially on weekends when a band comes to play and the dance floor is taken by storm. You can enjoy the show, tasting the beer brewed by the establishment. Tours of the brewery are also organized.

POPOVERS ON THE SQUARE

This charming café is the ideal place to stop for brunch or lunch. Housed in a handsome brick building, it's right in the heart of Portsmouth's historic Market Square. You'll find good salads, sandwiches and delicious popovers. The European pastries, perhaps a little less refined than in France, make passers-by salivate, and the café is worthy of an Italian one. In summer, the vast terrace is very pleasant and allows for discreet people-watching. A good address.

COTTON

This restaurant is very famous for its vintage and jazzy atmosphere, which takes us back to the 1950s. We go there first for the atmosphere, then for the martinis. Cotton is said to serve the best martinis in New Hampshire, according to the regional awards he's received. They come in every possible flavor. Don't worry, the menu's not bad either. On the menu, a simple and successful American cuisine. Remember to book at the weekend, the restaurant room may be more like it, but the place is well known and taken by storm.

THE RED ARROW DINER

World cuisine restaurant
4/5
1 review

This is an American-style diner, with colored neon lights and a 50s ambiance. The menu doesn't vary one iota. Your choice of omelette, hamburger, eggs Benedict, meatloaf and, of course, Coke to wash it all down. It's hearty and greasy as it should be. A must-try if you've never been there before. The best part is that it's open all day and all night! This diner, which has 4 addresses in the state, is a recurring stop with candidates on their election tours. Trump, Obama and Clinton have all stopped here.

This is the place to stop if you have an ogre's appetite in the morning! This family farm offers all-you-can-eat pancake menus in a rustic wooden room that evokes the ambiance of a cottage. There's something for everyone, from plain pancakes, which can be brushed with homemade maple syrup, to blueberry and chocolate pancakes, to pumpkin pancakes. RIVER HOUSE RESTAURANT

River House is one of Portsmouth's fine restaurants. Situated on the harbor, overlooking the bay, it ensures a pleasant dinner. The menu offers a typical New England selection: lots of fish and shellfish, chowder, lobster rolls, salads - not bad for lunch. The dining room is a little dark, with its brick and wood interior, but not unpleasant. Weather permitting, ask for a table outside, where you can enjoy the terrace above the water and watch the sailboats go by.

Here's an address that's out of the ordinary and wakes up our taste buds! If you've already eaten your weight in lobster rolls and seafood, Moxy will offer you some welcome novelty. This tapas bar, New England version, offers a varied and surprising menu: mozzarella accompanied by sunflower seeds, roasted artichoke, fried clams, pork with flat beans, baked fish... The list of proposals is long and tasty, without forgetting that it changes regularly according to the seasons. The atmosphere is modern and trendy.

COLD MOUNTAIN CAFE

A ten-minute drive from Franconia, in the neighboring village of Bethlehem, is this pretty address, with its small dining room decorated with works by local artists. It enjoys great popularity, and for good reason: the food is delicious. The menu doesn't include a ton of dishes, but the recipes are well-crafted. Like the indestructible " bean cake ", which has been delighting customers for 23 years! Meat lovers and vegans alike will be delighted. And gourmets won't be outdone by the homemade desserts! Reservations strongly recommended.
