If there is a mythical place in Saint-Etienne, it is indeed the Cauldron! Inaugurated in 1931, the Geoffroy-Guichard stadium owes its nickname to the smoke that comes out on game nights. Expanded several times, it now has 42,000 seats. It hosts the CASE Rugby, occasionally concerts, but above all remains the home of the St. Etienne football team, ASSE, which has an impressive track record. 10 French Championship titles and a huge fan base! A Museum of the Greens, notably retracing the epic of the 1960s and 1970s has been installed there and visits to the stadium are organised, because the Chaudron is more than a stadium, it's almost a place of pilgrimage!

It is without doubt the city's most emblematic elite club. Founded in 1963, it has 8 French Championship titles to its name, as well as 4 French Cups and 4 Champions Trophies. And this season, BDL will be playing in the Continental Cup! Field hockey at the Pôle Sud rink is always a great spectacle for lovers of the sport, where the 3,500 fans in the stands - when it's possible again - are hotter than the ice! Evenings with entertainment for a real show. On-site and online ticketing, with the possibility of buying tickets on the club's website and winning tickets on the Facebook page.

Clermont Foot gained popularity in the early 2000s with the rise to Ligue 2. In 2019, the club was bought by Ahmet Schaefer, former assistant to former FIFA president Sepp Blatter. In June 2020, the club celebrated its 30th anniversary. This anniversary paved the way for a new decade that was to be glorious. Indeed, the club has been shining since 2021, with its entry into League 1. The team, supported by the entire city, is evolving under the leadership of coach Pascal Gastien. This emblematic venue, long home to the exploits of the OL (that was a long time ago...) has become the temple of rugby with the LOU. It would seem that Gerland is a success story for local sportsmen and women! In a district undergoing major transformation, the stadium - listed as a "masterpiece of reinforced concrete architecture" since 1967 - was designed by Lyon architect Tony Garnier and inaugurated in 1920. Official LOU Rugby store. A brasserie serves meals every lunchtime on weekdays and on match days. Adjacent to the stadium, the Ruck Hôtel offers great comfort with its bistronomic restaurant. And soon, a new nautical and sports center.

OLYMPIQUE LYONNAIS

Football

1 review

Olympique Lyonnais was born in May 1950, the bearer of two clubs: FC Lyon, a historic club that participated in the first final of the French Cup, and LOU, whose soccer section is called Lyon Olympic. After the Second World War, football in Lyonnais looks for a second breath, given by a group of round ball enthusiasts who create Olympique Lyonnais. The team plays with a white jersey with red and blue colours of the city of Lyon for the first time on August 27 th, 1950 in Gerland. From the first season, the OL is France's champion of D 2 and access to the elite. The seasons follow and do not look like the results are not always equal to expectations. The first trophy, a French Cup, was won in 1964. The 1960 s announced the arrival of a great club in the French championship and great players go through Gerland: Chiesa, Lacombe, Domenech, Bowl, Di Nallo or Chauveau. In 1976, the OL lost the final of the French Cup to Marseille, before starting a descent to the D 2. In 1983, after 28 years of the elite, the OL went down. The club has trouble recovering and settling in D 2. In distress, the OL discovers an ambitious man, arriving with a plan to lead the D 2 club to the European Cup in the next five years: Jean-Michel Aulas. Five years after its descent, the OL returned to the D 1 in 1989. A true renaissance is beginning and the most skeptical are obliged to recognize the talents of Jean-Michel Aulas and his team. At the dawn of the st century, the team strengthens and recruits a Brazilian magician named Sonny Anderson. From the 2000/2001 season, the OL won the League Cup, its first trophy since 1973. And the titles will follow. The OL won 7 French champion titles (from 2002 to 2008), wins 2 French Cups (2008 and 2012) and 1 League Cup (2001). The Champions of the League, including a semi-finals in 2010, lost against Bayern in Munich. The club, led by Jean-Michel Aulas, continues the beautiful adventure with his men's team, but also with a female team, the only one in France to have won a triple League of Champions, Championship and National Cup. Since the beginning of 2016, the OL has been evolving at the Olympique Lyonnais in Caudataires (now named the Groupama Stadium), a magnificent complex dedicated to football.

JL BOURG BASKET

Basketball

A club evolving in Pro B, JL has many fans. It must be said that the club played in Pro A of 2000 - when he won the French Championship - at 2007, with a final of the Aces Week in 2006. Since then, he has been regularly involved with the wheel-offs and therefore hopes to see them go back to the top category.

But JL is also, since 1937, a amateur section with 20 women's and men's teams spread over all age categories, from babies to senior citizens through a recreational team, more than 300 licensees.

At the heart of the club's concerns, the training centre is accredited by the Ministry of Youth and Sports. The mini-basketball school ensures the initiation and development of more than 60 children between the ages of 4 and 10.

Companies are invited to join the Business Bourg + Club, which allows them to enjoy private and privileged monthly VIP subscriptions.
