The best beach bars New Aquitaine

An address with its feet in the sand! But be warned: people flock here in the morning for breakfast with a breathtaking view of the ocean, at midday for a fresh lunch, during the day for a well-deserved drink in the shade of the shade sails, but especially after a good day's surfing or sightseeing, and for the long-awaited moment of sunset. Cocktails are often accompanied by tapas and the smell of barbecue tickles the nostrils. DJ sets and other parties are scheduled throughout the summer.

This charming wooden shack perched on the Écureuils beach definitely lives up to its name: Rainbow Café, for a place full of color and flavor. A haven for surfers and gourmets alike, this beachside canteen caters for all tastes: detox juices, smoothies, buddha bowls, veggie bowls, avocado toast, vegetarian hot dogs... On the sweet side, you'll love the chia pudding, smoothie bowl, acai bowl or fruit salad in a half-melon. Everything is fresh, vitamin-packed and delicious. Who could ask for a better gourmet break in the sunshine by the ocean?

The Sunset Café definitely has it all. From morning to night, you can enjoy a coffee, lunch, dinner or aperitif with your feet in the sand, facing the ocean. The à la carte menu features cocktails (with or without alcohol), beers and wines from France and abroad, as well as hearty sharing platters, homemade tapas, poké bowls and tataki. For dessert, our favorite is the brioche perdue (spread with roasted hazelnuts and macadamia vanilla ice cream). A must-see spot to admire the sunset.

Perched on the dune of the Estagnots beach in Seignosse, this beach hut is one of the most famous on the Landes coast. In keeping with the luxury of its hotel, Hortensias du Lac, this oceanfront living space boasts an attractive menu of typical local dishes and tapas to nibble on all day long, from meats to seafood a la plancha. Let yourself be tempted by a cocktail or a South-Western wine for a dreamy aperitif as the sun sets. The season is punctuated by small concerts, events and film screenings.

A distinction must be made between the beach bar and the restaurant, which is open for lunch and dinner (reservations required) and features a short menu based on seasonal produce. From 9am to 1am, without reservation, the beach bar offers a wide choice of pizzas (prepared on site), seafood, a farandole of land and sea tapas: octopus à la galicienne, cod acras, terrine du vendangeur, BAO of pulled pork... And let's not forget the veggie recipes (falafels, honey-roasted camembert, truffle-roasted camembert...) and desserts. The view over the basin is superb. Enjoy it with a drink in hand.
