Beautiful space with exposed stonework. One of the best cod & chips of our trip, with creamy, perfectly cooked fish, pea purée, tartar sauce and coleslaw with homemade dill. Certainly the oldest building in town, the most picturesque pub. This is where you meet all the locals and fishermen who will be delighted to make fun of the English with you! The pub takes its name from Jack, a black slave captured in Africa and who landed in Caernarfon in the mid-18th century, probably the first person of colour to be seen in Wales. As in the fairy tales, he married a Welsh woman and they had many children (seven)! We eat very well at this address. Really, it's worth it!

A small tea room-restaurant near the river, on the site of a 14th century stone, Y Gegin Fawr (meaning "great kitchen") was once the rallying point for pilgrims before they crossed the sea to Bardsey Island. It is now a very pleasant place to stop, with its small round tables and beams decorated with beautifully painted plates. On the menu among others, crab and lobster according to the season, selection of sandwiches, soup... And until 11:30 am, you can also enjoy a hearty breakfast.

"The Curry House is the other name of this Sri Lankan-owned pub on Main Street. The establishment is renowned throughout Newport for its fine dining. The quantities are more than generous. We eat very well for very little money. To start with, you can indulge in garlic mushrooms, or a delicious hummus with homemade pita bread. Vegetarians can continue with vegetable lasagna, before finishing with an apple crumble or pudding. Good choice for everyone, even for the children's menu.

The Archway is renowned for its exemplary cleanliness. It's also the best place to eat good, cheap fish & chips. You'll find all the traditional pub fare. When it comes to special diets, as is the case throughout Wales, it's well thought-out and no one is forgotten: vegetarian choices, gluten-free choices... One of the most beautiful addresses in Swansea. Since 1690, the No Sign has built its reputation around wine. This tavern was once frequented by Dylan Thomas, who worked a few steps away. This is how the "Wine Vaults" (former name of the No Sign) is mentioned in his writings. Today, the tradition has remained unchanged and the warm welcome has not changed, full of charm, which cultivates an atmosphere of a bohemian tavern with its old armchairs, its fireplace, its wooden tables and its pretty water-green paint.
