CHURCH OF ST. MARY OF THE ANGELS
Read moreA jewel of Romanesque and Gothic art, it is one of the finest religious buildings in Vendée with its remarkable architecture of the th and th centuries Plantagenet style. This Romanesque pearl delights the esthètes, but inspires equally the mystery when one discovers successively the grimacing masks of omnipresent modillons, three strange statues private of their thoughts, a crypt well obscure, without forgetting the arrogant "malebête" toisant the visitor from the top of his pediment…

The volume in particular is representative of Romanesque art. A walking tour starts in front of the church to cross the dikes of the young Autise. It will let you discover the Maillé aqueduct, interesting and very efficient, since two channels intersect without ever the waters mixing.

Although it still has a few paintings from the th century, it was and is again known as one of the steps of the pilgrimage of Santiago de Compostela from Mont Saint-Michel. Located on a former Roman track, it has been a monument to National Heritage since 2004. Quiet, calm, you will find a little shade in summer. Simple architecture, it's its location that has kept it attractive. This chapel has been registered for Historical monuments since 1976.

It dates from the th century and is classified in historic monuments, as is the wall and the trees surrounding it. NOTRE-DAME DE L'ASSOMPTION CHURCH
Read moreThis building dates back to the fifteenth century century and has been often rewritten, where we seem to be a little strange, with its square tower and round turret. Don't miss the Pieta of the XVII century and the th-century stained glass windows and th centuries. This church is considered a Gothic-plantagenet style, characterized by particularly curved vaults and inspired by the Romanesque style. You will find other examples at Le Mans (the cathedral or the Couture Abbey) or in Luché-Pringé (the Saint Martin church).
