BATACLAN

Pop rock and variety concert hall
4.3/5
28 reviews

This old venue, which looks like a Chinese pagoda, has been opened for 150 years. The rounded concert hall, lined with small round tables and red stools, also has as a dance floor. The Bataclan offers an eclectic programme and a wide range of events. It has long been a place to be for concerts, dancing, joy and laughter. Following the tragic Paris attacks of 2015, the Bataclan underwent extensive renovation, proving that life goes on, and has resumed its programming with unfailing zest.

CABARET SAUVAGE

Pop rock and variety concert hall
4.2/5
27 reviews

Chiselled wood throughout, red velvet, bevelled mirrors... and a ballroom floor that's so good to dance on! This faux-top tent, which seats 1,200, is the offspring of Magic Mirrors, which once occupied the same venue in the Parc de La Villette. The Cabaret Sauvage hosts artists from all musical horizons, with a predilection for rock, reggae, jazz and chanson. It's no coincidence that Goran Bregovic, Khaled, Keren Ann, M, Bratsch, Les Wampas, PJ Harvey and Arno have all played here.

EMB SANNOIS

Pop rock and variety concert hall
5/5
1 review

This is an unavoidable scene in Val d'Oise, which has already revealed an incredible number of talents, from Sum 41 in Tryo to Cali or Bénabar. The Espace Michel Berger, which everyone now calls EMB, is a large flexible space that can accommodate up to 500 people and whose programming is constantly renewed. Focusing on the new rock scene in the 1990 s, it gradually evolved into what it is common to call today the «new French song». In parallel, the EMB is now a place of residence for artists, as well as a music awareness educational place.

PAUL B

Paul B is the diminutive of the Paul-Bailliart cultural centre. This room of five hundred and fifty places - which also has a club of three hundred and seventy places - is very dynamic, its programming - rock, songs, reggae, music of the world, jazz, blues… - is all excellent year, playing equal to those of the Parisian rooms. No wonder Massy residents are not the only ones to go there. The Massy Early Festival takes place every year.

The program in 2009-2010: The Got Orchestra, Fanga - 10 October -, James Hunter - 13 October -, Mulatu Astatqe and The Heliocentrics - 15 October -, Albert Lee - 17 October -, The Herbaliser - 23 October -, The Massy Early Settlers Festival - October 28 to 31, Miossec - November 9, Kiddus I, Omar Perry - November 13 - Mighty Mo Rodgers - November 14 - Mighty - Parabellum - 21 November -, Avishaï Cohen - 28 November -Staff Benda Defy - 1 December -, Piers Faccini - 11 December -, Lo'Jo - 16 December -, Ska Cuban - 29 January -, Kocani Orkestar - 20 March -, Tigran Hamasyan - 27 March -, Jeanne Cherhal - 10 April -Roberto Fonseca - 28 May -, Mahmoud Ahmed - 31 May -…

Triangular steel sheets reflecting video projections, 19th-century chandeliers, surgical light bulbs, bright colours... LE ZÉNITH

Pop rock and variety concert hall
4/5
4 reviews

This concert hall was not destined to last: it has been in existence for almost 40 years. And the Zenith is so successful that it has "copies" all over France, in Strasbourg, Nantes, Orléans: there are over twenty of them today! Le Zénith is a must-see venue in the capital and the region, and not a single successful artist passes by this venue, which is one of the largest in the region. Modular - that was the novelty at the time - the building seems to have been erected only recently, so much has it not aged.

PALAIS DES CONGRÈS

Pop rock and variety concert hall

4 reviews

As its name indicates, the Palais des Congrès is a site where congresses and other events related to the economy are held. It was built for the Paris Chamber of Commerce and Industry in 1974, enlarged and renovated in 1999. With three thousand seven hundred and twenty-three squares, without balcony, its Grand Amphitheater is designed to ensure perfect visibility for all spectators. In addition to the major economic gatherings, musicals and musical standards are offered. In short, no punk, but safe values. Attention to motorists: the immense work of the RER E makes access sometimes painful.

BOBINO

Pop rock and variety concert hall
4/5
3 reviews

Bobino is a beloved name among music-hall fans. It was originally the name of an early 19th-century clown. Several venues were successively built on the same site, starting with Folies Bobino in 1873. From cabaret to café-concert to music hall. From the 1950s onwards, Bobino rivaled the Olympia, welcoming Georges Brassens, Édith Piaf, Coluche and many other stars. The venue was closed in 1983 and demolished, but the show went on, and in 1991 Studio Bobino took over.

TRABENDO

Pop rock and variety concert hall
4/5
2 reviews

The Trabendo is located in one of the small red buildings built in the Parc de La Villette. Park historians may remember the first venue here, but Trabendo has quickly swept the past under the carpet. Since 2000, this seven-hundred-seat venue has continued to expand its program: Manu Chao, Calexico, The Neptunes and Bugge Wesseltoft have all played here. Note: the murals are signed by Futura 2000, a historic figure in New York graffiti. And the word "Trabendo" comes from contrabando, Spanish for contraband: quite a program.

STUDIO DE L’ERMITAGE

Pop rock and variety concert hall

1 review

Located in an old small factory, this location in Ménilmontant can contain three hundred and fifty people. The room has a mezzanine. The musical program is eclectic and quality. The following went: Magic Malik, Cheikh Tidiane Seck, Katerine, Louis Bertignac, Omar Sosa, Gabriel Yaqoop… Film projections are also organized. It is one of the most atypical halls in the capital, a place where listening music to the mezzanine bar becomes an electrifying experience.

Closed - Open to 23h00

La Java has a rich history. A small dance hall opened in 1923 at the back of the Palais du Commerce, a gallery now listed as a historic monument, it saw the debut of Edith Piaf. Celebrities such as Django Reinhardt and Jean Gabin also frequented it. Later, it became a discotheque. In the 1980s, it was the scene of sixties and indie rock revivals. The Hot Pants, for example, were Manu Chao's first band. There were other dance evenings, this time with a Latin flavour. Since 2006, the venue has been divided between concerts and clubbing.
