This former material store has long since become a mecca in north-eastern Paris. A gigantic cross-cutting place of 1,400 m2, at the same time exhibition and concert hall, party venue, bar and artists residence - among others - which quickly attracted a trendy and arty population on the water's edge, coming to vibrate to the sound of a quality electro rock - The Gossip, Felix Kubin, Herman Düne... This Berlin-style place has many graffiti, raw concrete and exhibitions of all kinds. You can eat on the go, enjoy the terrace in summer and winter (heated) and have fun at any time. It's in a small, not very well-known corner of the 20th century that you will discover Lou Pascalou, "Le petit Pascal" in Basque. This cultural café programs rock concerts, songs or world music and meetings with writers. It also presents exhibitions of artists and projections of short films. Some evenings are also dedicated to board games or tournaments of the Paris Improvisation League (see the programme on the café's website). The place succeeds in combining culture, good atmosphere, discovery and sharing. The staff is charming, even during peak periods. A little extra: on sunny days, the large terrace is very much appreciated.

If there is a mythical place dedicated to the 7 th Art at a few feet from Saint Michel, it is the cinema Le Champo and its two rooms. Or how to feel in the shoes of a young festival in the heart of the New Wave… This mythical place of Art and Trial opened on June 22, 1938 at 18 am instead of a bookstore. In the early years, Marcel Pagnol, Jacques Becker and of course Jacques Tati, who today welcomes the public, are put to the credit. Since then, all major filmmakers have had the privilege of having a cycle, a night or a meeting open to the public.

Marie-Antoinette was responsible for this hall. Built in 1781, it hosted lyrical performances until 1794. After a few years of neglect, it was reborn as the Théâtre de la Porte-Saint-Martin. Romantic dramas, notably by Dumas and Hugo, were performed here. The theatre burned down during the Paris Commune and was rebuilt in 1873. Cyrano de Bergerac and Chanteclerc were created here. The alternation between classical and contemporary music keeps the place beating.

This beautiful room can be proud to benefit throughout the year from an artistic programming, free or paying, both varied and often quality. In addition to the expected performances (especially theater plays), it also promotes music, stand-up, painting, sculpture, drawing, photography, etc. Then free to the tourist of the passage to take this and these events according to its expectations and availability. We strongly advise to go to the site of the town hall of Dammarie-les-Lys (tab "RECREATION - SPORTS - CULTURE" then "The Cultural Season") to download the complete program of the season in progress. For it does not soften to list upcoming shows in the city itself, but also in the vicinity in Melun, Le Mée-sur-Seine, Vaux-le-Penil, etc.

LA FERME DU MANET

Concert halls
4/5
1 review

The Ferme farm was originally a possession depending on the center of the Templar Templar. From the creation of the Port-royal des Champs abbey, the history of Manet's estate can be traced more precisely. The sector depended, in the th century, on the stronghold of Guy de Chevreuse (who gave his name to Guyancourt) and who made the new abbey donation of several parcels of arable land or not: between 1237 and 1262, 146 acres (about 65 ha) were gathered between Barns and the municipality of Montigny-le-Bretonneux to form the basis of what became Manet's estate. The domain grew and embellir until the Revolution, where the 168 ha are redeemed to the ladies of Port-Royal by the last abbey farmer: Achille Raymond Yellow. At the end of the th century, the courtyard was bordered in a discontinuous manner by buildings which house the farmer's house, two stables, one vacherie, the dairy, one bergerie, two barns, one press and one monumental colombier. In the aftermath of the Revolution, the estate is acquired by Henri Marin Notta who, along with his son Vincent, will exploit it until 1860, when Ernest Gilbert will resume it. The transition from traditional farming to industrial activity is particularly interesting to follow in the evolution of Manet, because there is hardly any farm in Paris where the documentation on this subject is so precise and abundant. The transition was made by the Notta family. The farm in 1860 represents 300 ha, which at this time is considerable (Montigny occupies 667 ha). Aware of the historical, emotional and cultural value represented by this farm, the municipality of Montigny-le-Bretonneux decided to acquire it. From here, it is a whole rehabilitation and management program that was studied and then implemented. The farm is now a 900-seat concert hall, which hosts the great names of song, music, laughter, and more dramatic entertainment. It also functions as a seminar and communication centre.

If the place's regulars, often students, feel the warm ambiance imbued in the brick walls, it's because the owners uphold the fundamentals of a successful buddy night: beer and match. Whether you prefer American or European beer, bottled or draught, cocktails or rum, your thirst will be quenched here. As for the atmosphere, there's a giant screen for broadcasting rugby and soccer matches. To satisfy your hunger, we offer traditional charcuterie and cheese boards, tapas, and sandwiches.

CINÉMA L’ARLEQUIN

Cinema
4/5
1 review

A neighbourhood cinema, part of the independent Dulac network, far from the big machines you see everywhere. The programming is meticulous, the staff are cinephiles - in short, a veritable refuge for lovers of arthouse films. In fact, what was once a power station was sponsored by Jacques Tati when it was converted into a cinema in 1962. For many years, the Arlequin was the emblematic cinema of the Left Bank in Paris. BISOU

Cocktail bar
4/5

This Bisou has depth! For those who like it, as we do, the music playlist is not intimist, and mostly features standards from the 1990s and 2000s. The long bar is great for chatting, the terrace with its wooden logs is very trendy, and the cocktails, which are all the same price, are really well thought-out. The icing on the cake is that most of the beverages are made with good ingredients that are only revealed once they've been absorbed: what a surprise! A very nice place.

Wine bar

Are you looking for a wine bar in the Latin Quarter but want to avoid the very (or too?) busy rue Mouffetard? Le Bar de Fer should do it! We come here with friends or colleagues at the exit of the office, to taste a board of excellent local products accompanied by a small red or a good pint. Amateurs and lovers of Italian cheeses, beware, the pecorino is honoured! And if you don't know where to party, you can always stay here for the second part of the evening: musical life takes place almost every evening from 9 pm.
