Sailing Normandy

Sailing in the city is possible! To do so, head for the Caen Yacht Club sailing school. Once the administrative formalities are over, 6 sailboats (J80) are at your disposal and you can go for two hours on the Caen waterways. With family, friends or colleagues, whether for pleasure, improvement, maneuvers or even a regatta (!), accompanied by 3 crew members and an experienced skipper, sailing will have no more secrets for you! And you can complete your practice by theoretical courses, top!

The centre offers initiations or baptisms air in the glider (20-30 minutes) and, for the most curious, a whole day of initiation, including baptism plus a long flight. The glider flies under the clouds and therefore depends on weather conditions (full season from March to October).

The club welcomes visitors all year round who wish to sail on the Seine and its meanders. Initiation and advanced sailing courses are available for children and adults. Sailing school begins at the age of 7. Internships are also offered during school holidays. Optimists, OpenBic, 420, Laser or Caravelle, all types of sailing are within your reach here, and for those who prefer to row, kayaking is also possible. Regattas and competitions are regularly organised.

Let's face it, one of the best ways to discover the region's most beautiful landscapes... is to row! At this address, you'll find canoes and kayaks for hire (for 1 hour 20 minutes, half a day or a full day) for a nautical escapade along the signposted course of the Eure, between Menilles and Louviers. The flora and fauna of the river's banks will be your companions on this nature outing. Please note: 2-seater canoes can accommodate a child aged between 4 and 8 as a third passenger (extra charge).

Affiliated to the French Sailing Federation, the OCEAN association was born from the grouping of the Ouistreham sailing and sand yacht school (SRCO) and the Colleville-Montgomery sailing school (Wind 14). It offers various activities on the sea, the canal or on the sand in Ouistreham-Riva-Bella, Colleville-sur-Mer and Lion-sur-Mer. Finally, the Nautical Activity Centre (CANO), created in 2020, aims to make the sailing school the first in Normandy.

One of the oldest sailing clubs of the city that proposes from the age of 12 to practice sailing, on sailboats mini-J at the Regatta. Animations and competitions are often organized to motivate browsers from all sides.

The Cherbourg Sailing School, which totals no less than 1,500^m2 of usable space spread over two levels, has a reception hall, classrooms, changing rooms, staff offices, school users' premises and the rowing club. The school welcomes children from the age of 6, is open for school holiday courses, sea classes, provides departmental dinghy training, sports instruction, or licence training.

The Barneville-Carteret nautical centre offers a wide range of services. Vests and wetsuits are available for hire. The school offers a full range of sailing and seafaring activities. From ages 4 to 6, little ones are welcomed to the sea garden. From 6 to 8, the little mousses climb aboard the Walker Bay, from 8 to 12 the Optimist and from 9 to 14 the Collective 316. As soon as you reach the right age, you'll embark on a 420, catamaran, windsurf or fun board. Our experienced staff will give you a warm welcome.
