It was Marie de Medici who laid the first stone of this architectural treasure in 1615. At the end of the 19th century, it was saved from destruction and classified as a historical monument. Bombed in 1942, its restoration took several decades, and the first work on an auditorium will begin in 2014. Today under the responsibility of the Rouen Opera, the venue offers a very beautiful and eclectic artistic program of songs, recitals, chamber and symphonic music concerts, world music...

The Opéra de Rouen is the city's cultural institution, with two performance halls: the Théâtre des Arts and the Chapelle Corneille. Every year, 100,000 spectators flock here to enjoy top-quality operas, concerts and dance performances. All audiences are catered for, with performances for children and the visually and hearing impaired. We love the €5 ticket for under 28s and those on minimum social benefits. So this year, go for it!

The Select cinema in Granville is one of the oldest in France. Renovated many times, it is located in the heart of the city. With three theatres with nearly 500 seats, it offers a very eclectic programme that mixes auteur films and big productions. The price range is very affordable with a real favourite for the morning or evening sessions: only €5! Living in Normandy or just passing through Granville, don't hesitate to open the doors of this human-sized and very warm cinema.

Change of direction for the Comédie de Caen, with Aurore Fattier now in charge of the institution's development. The Comédie de Caen is LE 32 in Caen and the CDN in Hérouville. The latter houses a digital workshop for set and costume construction. It showcases both classic and contemporary works. Bonus: the shows aren't just for the well-heeled, and there are packages to suit everyone!

The Cargö has very quickly become the place to be for fans of contemporary music. Its eclectic program, mixing regional, national and even international artists, reaches a demanding public. In 2023, Ziak and Lorenzo are on the bill. The large 1,000-seat hall guarantees memorable emotions, and the 400-seat club offers unique evenings. But the Cargö is also a Rock Info Center with a specialized documentary collection available for free consultation and two rehearsal studios.

It's so good to have a movie in one of the rare human-sized cinemas that still exist in our beautiful country! But who says small, does not say under-equipped: 285 places and 7 places for wheelchairs (which do not always exist in the multiplexes!), balcony of 92 places, comfort seats, Dolby Digital system, surround EX to THX standards (for the experts), all this in an atmosphere to the "Grand Rex" with blue night decoration and starry sky. The Royal has everything of a great one, the charm and the conviviality in more.

As far as we are concerned, we are far from the excessive multiplexes that are projecting only general public films, and show little interest in more intimate works. This 212-seat room allows you to rediscover the convivial atmosphere of the cinemas, and incidentally, to pass rainy days. Reasonable prices and organization of special evenings with debate.

Taken over by the CGR group, which already has a multiplex near the Cité de la Mer, the Odeon cinema is located in the heart of the city, almost opposite the swing bridge and the commercial basin. Recently renovated, with 5 beautiful rooms for a total of 1,025 seats, it offers a program ranging from mainstream films to more intimate feature films. This cinema, with its stormy history, often threatened with closure, has thus become once again one of the must-see places for the city's moviegoers. We highly recommend this nice place!

The Zenith needs no introduction! Capable of hosting the biggest shows for all ages and tastes, it's a must-see. Inaugurated on June 19, 1993, its hall attracts 250,000 spectators a year, and can accommodate concerts and events from 900 to 7,000 people. In 2024, the classical masterpiece Swan Lake, Jeff Panacloc and M Pokora have already performed here, but Slimane, Patrick Bruel, Shaka Ponk and Gims are also sure to be in the spotlight. It's THE place for all artists and all genres!

On the left bank, the former port hangar transformed into a concert hall is easily identifiable by its two yellow cranes. Le 106 is Rouen's major contemporary music venue. Its programming of nationally and internationally renowned artists has made it a must-see venue. In addition to its 1,200-capacity auditorium, Le 106 has a club room, rehearsal and recording rooms, a design studio, exhibition and conference spaces. Don't miss the Rush festival in June.

Much more than a cinema, the Lux is a meeting place. Classified as Art et Essai, Recherche et Découverte, and Jeune Public, it defines itself as "militant", so fans beware! With three cinemas accessible to people with reduced mobility (even the smallest cinema in the world with only one seat!), blockbusters screened in their original version or small auteur films, evenings with film crews and previews, there's something for everyone! Inaugurated in 1960, Cinéma Lux also offers a video club, exhibitions and a cafeteria.

It's true, we don't go to Bayeux to haunt obscure rooms. That said, a rain afternoon, when children are saturated with cultural visits, a good canvas, it makes good! The Melies, a friendly atmosphere of a small province in the vicinity of the large impersonal complexes, offers several films per day. And because small room does not mean ringarde programming, the Melies glue up to film news and practical as well digital as the 3 D!

Built at the end of the ^19th century, the magnificent cirque-théâtre d'Elbeuf is one of the last eight permanent circuses in France, and the only one with an Italian-style ring and stage. A venue for performances, training, creation, artistic discoveries and encounters, this vast complex is now home to the regional circus arts center. Its programming, which has succeeded in dusting off the circus arts, is based on innovation and multi-disciplinarity, and is aimed at all audiences, children and adults alike.

The Arromanches 360 circular cinema overlooks the remains of one of the two artificial harbours installed by the Allies. Produced by the authors of the Apocalypse series, this 9-screen HD film uses archive footage from around the world to tell the whole story of the terrible Battle of Normandy.

Commercial blockbusters, films d'auteur, independent films, original version with subtitles, concerts and plays demonstrate the venue's determination to appeal to all audiences! With 10 theaters and 1,795 seats, plus a 3D and 4DX theater, there's something for everyone. It's up to you to choose, and choose well, because at over 15 euros a ticket, you'd better not choose the wrong film! But we have to admit that the D-Box armchair is surprising.

The Cabaret electric is an essential place for contemporary music in the heart of the Niemeyer space. The Cabaret Electric animates the nights with an average of two concerts per week. Known or less known, local or international artists come to the rhythm of Jazz, Rap, but above all rock and electro-pop-rock in a room for up to 450 spectators. Three rehearsal studios also cater for musicians, and a bar awaits you every evening from Tuesday to Saturday.

It is the biggest cinema complex in the center of the Channel! Cinémoviking has no less than 9 cinemas, nearly 1,500 seats and a very exhaustive program: you will discover blockbusters, but also older films, with the association "Back to the reel" which organizes unexpected projections here! Regularly, actors and actresses come here for promotion. Finally, note that you can also reserve your seats on the website, and that parking is easy and fast: practical!

An incredible place, this Tambour! This establishment, which can accommodate up to 70 people, offers a variety of reviews, from original creations such as "eRa", to those for special occasions such as Valentine's Day: you'll be in for a treat, and a treat for your taste buds, as you can also dine here. Please note that reservations are essential, and can be made via the website. The program is regular, and the prices are fully justified by the quality of what's on offer.

Well known, this nice cinema is located a few steps away from the town hall of the delegated commune of Equeurdreville. Here, festivals are proposed, notably the Palac'Escale which celebrated, for example, the films shot in La Hague. Art et essai, current or independent, the programming is open to all ages. The establishment has a 284-seat theatre and the monthly programme is available upon request by email. Throughout the year, many conferences and animations are also proposed.

The Sirius, already classified as Art and Trial, will soon become the centre of Art and Test du Havre, since the closure of the room L'Eden (the volcano cinema). Proximity to the university prevailed over the other places (Clubs and Studio) that could claim to this appellation, which seems to be very envied. It would be tempting to write that this is the last quarter of the neighbourhood in Le Havre, and this gives this place all the nobility that is worth passionate.

With three halls, the largest of which has 240 seats, film classified Art and Trial, the Sirius would be as a necessary small star in the local film panorama. Good programming in children's movies, preferential rates for students - cinema is next to the university - work with and around schools.
