Created in 1976 in the district of Gràcia, then in 2001 on the hill of Montjuïc, the Teatre Lliure is an independent creative space, which privileges contemporary texts and performances in Catalan. The headquarters of Montjuïc occupies the former Palace of Agriculture, built for the 1929 International Exhibition. In 2010, the headquarters of Gràcia (Carrer del Montseny, 47) reopens after several years of closure. The owners have preserved many of the original features, while adapting the interior layout. The place itself is a haven for locals and the more nostalgic who come to listen to good live jazz or electro music at a volume pleasant enough to chat while enjoying a good cocktail.
