The only multidisciplinary university in Brittany, UBO offers a large number of training courses in six cities: Brest, Quimper, Morlaix, Vannes, Saint-Brieuc and Rennes. This ensemble represents 131 specialty licenses and masters courses, 42 professional licenses and 16 DUT, of which 24 are related to other universities. The UBO, consisting of six training and research units (medicine, letters, law, sport, etc.), seven specialized institutes (IEMU, IUT, IPAG…), two engineering schools and a midwifery school, have nearly 18,000 students registered each year. École des Transmissions, formerly École Supérieure et d'Application des Transmissions, is a technical military school located on the Rennes - Beaulieu campus, in the commune of Cesson-Sévigné. It is open to personnel from the French Ministry of the Armed Forces, as well as from other countries. The school's current commander is Brigadier General Jacques Eyharts.

The Naval School is located in the commune of Lanvéoc, on the edge of the Brest harbour, and covers a campus of 100 hectares. Located on the Crozon peninsula, it offers an exceptional setting for cadets undergoing initial training. Created in 1997, IUEM is an institute specializing in marine research. A major player in French and European research, it is also a multi-disciplinary training center for hundreds of Masters and PhD students, thanks in particular to the Marine and Coastal Sciences Master's degree, the Marine Energies Master's degree and the Marine Sciences Doctoral School. Located at the heart of the Brest-Iroise technology park, the institute boasts 11,000 m² of offices, laboratories and classrooms, for 400 permanent researchers, teacher-researchers, engineers and technicians, as well as 400 students.

Renowned for its ability to train the future elites of French gastronomy and hotel management, the Ferrandi school moved to Rennes in 2021 and welcomes its students to its kitchens on rue de Brest. Two bachelor's degrees are offered: Culinary Arts and Entrepreneurship (cuisine or patisserie) and Hotel and Restaurant Management, as well as a Master of Science in Hotel Management. The school's downtown location puts students in direct contact with the public: everyone can taste their creations in the application restaurant.
