Created in 1997 and taken over in 2012, the Abyss Plongée centre is located next to the port. This is the place to go for horseback rides in the area, especially through the Etang-Salé forest to the beach at sunset. There are also lessons and introductory courses. This is on the departmental road above the forest, closer to Etang-Salé-les-Hauts than to the village of Les Avirons. It is set in a huge property with bucolic charm. The farm can also provide meals for small groups.

Aparksa Montagne is a travel agency based in Cilaos, Reunion Island. It offers a range of mountain activities including hiking, canyoning and trekking. Opened in 1933, it is the third oldest aéroclub ever in operation in France. Besides the aéroclub, the building also houses the ULM centres and a helicopter club.

Corail Plongée is a diving club with a friendly atmosphere, directly on the port of Saint-Gilles. The boats anchor just in front of it. Many residents and students come here to dive. Like all the other clubs, the team offers FFESSM, SSI, CMAS training, but the most important is the cetacean outing. You will discover the joys of the randosub by observing dolphins and discovering the reef. Let yourself be carried away by Christophe, Popotte, Sandrine and Jérôme and set off to explore the seabed of the West.

This pleasant seaside walk starts off strong: the starting point of the Coastal Path is none other than the Étang-Salé abyss. Formed by lava flows, this natural corridor causes the ocean to rumble when it rushes in, hitting the rocks. This trail will first make you crawl over the volcanic rocks, before leading you to the sand dunes and finally to pebble beaches. Your destination, the Étang du Gol, is 7.6 kilometres away.

This accrobranche offers eight courses of varying difficulty, punctuated by 130 games. In the middle of the forest of cryptomerias of Makes, you will evolve on Tibetan bridges, zip lines, suspended platforms, etc... Two of them benefit from a unique system of continuous lifeline, which allows you to complete the whole course without detaching yourself, thus offering optimal safety and access to the youngest. Based at the Maperine terminal (right next to Roland-Garros), Papangue ULM offers flights over the island from the airport. The shorter one takes you to Salazie, to the Voile de la Mariée and above the Trou de Fer, the longer one takes you around the whole island with Salazie, the Trou de Fer, Grand-Etang, the volcano, the Dimitile, Cilaos, Mafate, the lagoons, the pond of Saint-Paul, return by the route du Littoral ... The difference with the other ultralight centers, which are in the West or in the South : you discover the East on the way out, and the Route du Littoral on the way back.

Open for more than thirty years, Réunion Fishing Club offers big game fishing trips with a crew, for a day or a half day on its two dedicated boats, Abaco and Are-Nui. Thanks to the solid experience of our fishing guides and the best equipment, you will have a much better chance of seeing marlin, swordfish or tuna. We also have six pleasure boats for rent by the half-day (coastal license required). Finally, the store offers a wide range of fishing and spearfishing equipment, also the reference on the island.

E-Vélo is Réunion's specialist in VAE (Vélos à Assistance Électrique - electrically-assisted bicycles). It offers half-day and full-day rentals of some forty recent models: road bikes, semi-rigid bikes, children's bikes and tandems; equipment included (helmet, anti-theft device) or extra (trailer, child seat, extra battery). As for organized rides, the team has arranged for qualified guides and tailor-made road or mountain bike tours in the West. There's also a high-performance workshop and the best brands on the market for sale.

Opened in 1990, Parapente Réunion will allow you to discover the most beautiful landscapes of the island in all serenity. With 12 state-certified instructors, it is the most important centre on the island. Many first flights, flying over the lagoon and forests, various training courses and theme trips are available. An outing "Saint-Leu vue du coucher du soleil" is organized from 4pm to 6pm, a delight.

It is the only observatory in the Indian Ocean and French overseas departments and territories. It is better to go there early to be sure to get the sun and it is better to book because it is an association, run by volunteers. The place has several rooms including a planetarium, an exhibition area, a room with traditional instruments of star observation, etc.. Ask about the dates of the observation evenings and book well in advance: night outings are in great demand. Bring a vest, even in summer, as it can be cold.

From the Pas de Bellecombe parking lot (at the end of the volcano's forest road, approx. 23 km from Bourg-Murat), this accessible but no less challenging hike takes in the Piton de la Fournaise and the Dolomieu crater. Departures are usually early in the morning, before the clouds roll in and visibility is reduced by thick fog. The trail begins with a gentle descent to the enclosure gate at the top of the rampart. Hikers then take a 150 m-long path, or rather a stone staircase, that leads them to the bottom of the rampart, with all along a breathtaking view of the lava plain and the small Formica Léo crater. In the immensity of this plain covered with lava that has been solidifying for centuries, you'll head towards the Piton de la Fournaise, passing Formica Léo and the Rosemont chapel. All you need to do is follow the white markings on the ground, which are very useful to avoid venturing onto uneven terrain and getting lost, especially when the clouds roll in and you can't see a metre. From here, you'll need a little more breath to climb gradually up the side of the Dolomieu crater, for around 2 km. After the effort, the reward: you arrive at an altitude of 2,512 m, at the edge of the Dolomieu crater, to observe a gaping chasm over 300 m high.On the way back, on the descent, your joints ache, the landscape over the lava plain and the ramparts deserves a few more breaks, and you'll never tire of this grandiose landscape. Finally, the famous steps at the beginning of the ascent will finish off your thighs and calves, but you'll have the satisfaction of having completed one of Réunion's most beautiful hikes, a must if you want to discover one of the world's most active volcanoes. Do it on your own or in a group with a guide.

Equipment. Good walking shoes are a must, as this is not a well-trodden path: you'll be walking on volcanic rock. You'll also need a raincoat, even if you're setting off under a clear blue sky, as the weather can change quickly, as well as water and food (a picnic break is appreciated in such a setting), and sun cream, as the sun beats down hard at altitude!

Option. Several routes are possible from the Pas de Bellecombe. Along the ramparts of the enclosure to the Piton de Bert (1h30) or the Nez Coupé de Sainte-Rose (1h30). Within the enclosure, to piton Kapor (1h30) and/or cratère Rivals (2h).

Passionate about mountain sports and new adventures, several monitors have gathered within this structure, which offers climbing, canyoning, edge races, mountain bikes, lava tunnels, hiking (over one or more days) and multi-activity packages through cilaosiens reliefs but also on other sites. Small equipped, thoughtful monitors and a friendly atmosphere, the spirit «léo bien there». For any profile: amateur athletes with the taste of the extreme! Accomplished sportsman, Sébastien Coupy's reputation is well known in Reunion Island. And for good reason, he has set the bar very high by completing in 2010 the crossing between Mauritius and Reunion Island in kitesurfing in just over 7 hours. Today at the head of Parapente Nature and titled, "ambassador of Reunion" by the IRT since 2014, Sébastien offers paragliding flights in Saint-Leu as well as more sporty flights on routes even going as far as Saint-Gilles, Étang-Salé. He can also fly you from the Maïdo.

On the national, a little before the entrance of the city, the cliff side, the first diving centre to offer on Saint-Leu the diving formula and meals. Order the carry on the boat and enjoy it at the club, with the whole team, back from the dive. The atmosphere is very friendly. The club has a ombragée aluminium barge to dive on the bay of St. Leu. Two daily dives. A small covered terrace allows you to enjoy a punch at the end of the dive. FFESSM, ANMP and SSI training (international training for dual North American and European certification). Dive packages (5, 10, 20 or 40), night diving and theme diving.

The largest water park on the island. On 3 hectares of tropical garden, the whole range of attractions of the big European parks... and in the open air! The children will take to the giant slides with crazy curves (up to 87 m of slide), while the teenagers will try their hand at the "static wave" on a bodyboard. The children will splash around in paddling pools, while the adults will relax in the whirlpools. The lifeguards keep an eye on the water: everything is perfectly clean, safe and up to standard. You will even be able to eat on site.

Small water playground for children with a 300 m² water surface. They can play in 20 cm of water between fountains, giant octopus, sea lions and water spitting fish. A supervisor ensures that safety rules are respected. Parents can accompany their children in the water or observe them from the shore, comfortably seated in the many armchairs, or seated in the restaurant area. The other main attraction is the three slides with guaranteed sensations! Very popular for birthday parties.

Sea and river kayaking, kayak polo, kayak slalom... you can try anything that glides over the water! Sea kayaking, specially designed for strolling or hiking in the sea, lets you discover the lagoon and the southern coast in a whole new way. Wave-skiing, a compromise between surfing and kayaking, will undoubtedly attract the most athletic, while the most competitive will try their hand at Ocean Racing. If you're comfortable, you can try your hand at the various Eskimo roll techniques. A dynamic and ambitious club.

Located at 400 m altitude, the Bassin Bleu Country Club golf course is a majestic 56-hectare complex, which forms a beautiful link between beach and mountain. Its view is sublime, its climate ideal, thanks to a natural mid-altitude protection against the trade winds. An 18-hole course, quite technical and naturally hilly, with the first 9 holes dominating the Indian Ocean and the last 9 punctuating a forest of eucalyptus trees. You will have a wide choice between the 18-hole driving range (6 of which are covered), the putting green and the practice bunkers.

At an altitude of 1,500 m, the toboggan park offers you a variety of activities at low cost: pony rides in the surrounding forest, archery courses, remote-controlled boat races for the marmailles at the wheel of a large console overlooking the park's pool. Don't let the old-fashioned look impress you and dare to climb the steps. You'll discover the main attraction: a toboggan run that runs down 450 m through a garden of hydrangeas and longoses (no matter what age, everyone wants more)!

This equestrian centre takes you, on the back of Mérens, to discover the exceptional panoramas of the surroundings. The horses are docile and reassuring for beginners. For children, the club offers baby ponies and ponies that they can brush before setting off on a ride. After a ride in the arena to learn the basic rules and become familiar with the animal, departure for an experience in the heart of nature. Note that there is also a campground.

This eighteen-hole course, the oldest on the island, is located in the forest of Étang-Salé and covers more than 68 hectares, full of flowers and greenery. The course is very well maintained and quite technical. There are also training areas, a driving range, a swimming pool and three tennis courts. There is a brasserie for refreshments. The whole family is welcome. If you don't want to drive back home, you can take a helicopter to Pierrefonds airport with Mafate Hélicoptère, partner of the golf course.

The stables organize short horseback rides in the Bourg-Murat area, as well as longer excursions, for half a day or several days (overnight stays in bivouac taken care of by the owners) in different corners of the island. The round of the three pitons, the piton de l'Eau, the volcano... So many sites that you can discover on horseback in a friendly atmosphere, according to your level, your desires and your budget. Pony rides are also organised for the little ones as well as carriage rides.

Be careful, although it does not represent any difficulty, keep up to date with the closing order of this trail at the tourist office or the ONF. Ideal for picnicking and bathing (in icy water!), the Biberon waterfall basin, named after a former forest warden, is accessible by an easy family path, although narrow and slippery in case of rain. Count 1 hour of walking there and back. A delight.

"Merens" is the name of the horse most commonly used for trail riding in La Réunion. This horse, originally from the Pyrénées ariégeoises, is renowned for its good temperament, sure-footedness and agility. It has adapted perfectly to the island's rugged terrain and climate. The equestrian center organizes excursions to the four corners of the island, by the hour, half-day or full day, for all riders: anything is possible, just ask.

Located at the southern end of the marina, the Saint-Gilles nautical base has a sailing school and a kayak school. It offers weekly activities all year round (outside school holidays) or "à la carte" for the practice of sailing and kayaking, for occasional people and tourists. During the school holidays, holiday courses are organised, the opportunity for 5-12 year olds to discover the marine environment, or for adults and teenagers (from 13 years old) to sail aboard a catamaran

Gildas, the boss, triple Reunion Island champion in cross-country, offers mountain bike descents accompanied by a qualified instructor. Departure at 7.30 am for a half-day rich in sensations, which starts with the ascent by shuttle bus of the Maïdo peak at 2,200 metres altitude. If you have never been to Maïdo before, the adventure begins with one of the most magnificent panoramas of the island, at an hour when the clouds have not yet covered everything. And then it's off for a 35-kilometre descent through forests of coloured woods and tamarind trees to the lagoon.

This small dive centre stands out from the large «bubble factories» of the corner, with its small palanquées and friendly atmosphere. Approximately sorties, between the Bay of Saint Paul and Trois-basins, are proposed according to the level of participants and weather. No more than 6 divers per session, and that's all the better! The organization is simple and à la carte; Sub'Marine has no premises on the port, its van brings all the material on the ground. After you have booked by phone, you can get directly to pontoon A for immediate boarding.

Diving differently is how the Dodo Palme sees it, and he's right. More intimate than its neighbours in Saint-Gilles or Saint-Leu, this structure takes teams of up to 16 divers for outings in the West or around the island, starting from the Pointe des Galets. Baptisms, itinerant dives, themed dives (night, biological, or whale watching...), explorations (wrecks or reefs)... Outings are as varied as the depths. And this is probably why we never get tired of it.

You'll be aboard a boat that can accommodate up to 7 people. You'll have access to fishing and safety equipment for deep-sea fishing and scuba diving. As you may have guessed, Batoloc is a motorboat rental agency offering rental by the half-hour, half-day or full day. This friendly team, made up of professional instructors with state diplomas in caving and climbing, offers canyoning sessions programmed according to the level of the participants and the weather, for half a day, a full day, a weekend or even over several days. Ric à Ric focuses on equipment, a guarantee of comfort and safety. The little extra: the whole team is involved all year round in the maintenance of the island's courses. For example, they have opened a new course on the Trou-de-Fer through the arm of Mazerin.

With an average altitude of 600 m, the Golf Club du Colorado is the highest in Reunion Island. Its twelve holes are full of slopes and slopes, and will delight the amateurs of tough courses. It is located in the heart of the Colorado leisure area and has complete facilities: driving range with putting-greens and bunkers, pro-shop (complete equipment for rent). All of this is supervised by a state-certified teacher. You can spend the day there and take a break or have lunch at the golf restaurant open every day from 9am to 6pm.

Want to learn to surf in Réunion Island? Papang Surf School offers individual and group lessons for beginners and intermediate surfers. Group lessons are given in small groups of seven or eight people. For 1h30, you'll be accompanied by passionate, state-certified instructors. Trois Bassins, Les Brisants or Roches Noires beaches: spots vary according to weather conditions. The practice is carried out in areas monitored and secured by the "vigies requin renforcées" (VRR) system. A friendly atmosphere!

Starting out as a freediving club and school, offering introductory, exploratory and training courses, Benoît launched the underwater scooter on Réunion Island. A 50-minute outing in small groups, starting from the beach. Equipped with flippers, mask and snorkel, you are towed by an aquatic propeller to observe the seabed.
