CITALIS

Public transport buses and coaches

The Citalis network in Saint-Denis is exemplary and has reserved lanes. There are stops almost everywhere in the city and the network is very extensive: look closely at the directions. The timetables are more or less respected. If you intend to travel by bus, buy books of tickets (it's cheaper) at the points of sale indicated on the terminals (one of which is at the bus station). The buses are now almost all air-conditioned and equipped with a radio. Note that the network has been completely modernized in 2019.

GARE ROUTIÈRE

Bus station

Built between 1973 and 1978, this bus station has some architectural and design interests, although some refreshment would be required. Managed by the Société d'économie mixte des transports de l'Ouest (SEMTO), it accommodates the bus lines criss-crossing the western intermunicipal area comprising La Possession, Saint-Paul, Le Port, Trois Bassins and Saint-Leu. GARE ROUTIÈRE

Bus station

There is not really a bus station in Sainte-Rose anymore. Lines 48 and 49 of the Estival network serve Sainte-Rose and its immediate surroundings (Saint-Benoît, Pont-Suspendu, Petit-Brûlé). A bus passes every 90 minutes. Schedules available on the website www.cirest.fr. It is a good option to come back from the path along the coast (from the port of Sainte-Rose to the Anse des Cascades, or the reverse). To come from a big city, you can take the Car Jaune bus network (line S1).

GARE ROUTIÈRE

Bus station

Saint-Leu is served by the T, O2, S3 and S4 lines of the "Cars Jaunes" which directly connect Saint-Denis and Saint-Pierre. Located in front of the town hall, the bus station is very pleasant and full of life but it still lacks shade. So if you have some time before your transport arrives, take the opportunity to visit the tourist office nearby or to wander around the town. The hidden treasures of Saint-Leu will then be revealed to you: the basalt architecture, graffiti by Jace or Oner, the church of Notre-Dame-de-la-Salette..

GARE ROUTIÈRE

Bus station

It is the largest bus station on the island and the terminus of many lines. Located near the commercial heart of the island and the avenue Maréchal-Leclerc, it allows access to the airport thanks to the direct shuttle, to almost the whole island thanks to the yellow bus network and to the city with the urban network Citalis. But strongly exposed to the trade winds during the southern winter and to the sun rays due to the lack of shade, it is better not to arrive too early to take a bus. We advise you not to hang out there after a certain hour...

Saint-Louis is on the T, S3, S4, S5, O1 and O2 lines of the Cars Jaunes, direct to Saint-Denis and Saint-Pierre. The 60 bus to Cilaos also leaves from here. RUN AVIATION

Airlines

This small airline created in 2014 and subsidiary of Air Austral since 2018, was not designed to compete with the big ones. Indeed, Run Aviation operates a Beechcraft King Air F90 accommodating 7 passengers for private medium-haul flights on demand. This twin-engine propeller plane with its 5-hour autonomy can take you as far as Mauritius, or further in the Indian Ocean with or without a stopover. If the rates are comparable to those of a business class flight, its main interest is the prestige of a privatized aircraft, and to set your own schedule.
