LES CHAISES DU GOL
Read moreThese chairs made of filaos wood come from the forest of Etang-Salé. Their caning is made from rushes cut on the banks of the Etang du Gol. Rustic, solid and comfortable, they are part of the authentic Creole furniture. Some local craftsmen perpetuate the tradition, notably Bernard Lépinay and Pierre Lallemand. Go and meet them in their craftsman's workshop which smells good wood. You can also discover this know-how at the Pointed Chapel, at the Villèle de l'Éperon museum, above Saint-Gilles les Bains.
