Located away from the town center, in the heart of Mahogany Bay Village, the Rum + Bean café is housed in a small, welcoming traditional wooden house. This bar specializes in coffee, rum and cocktails. Milkshakes and smoothies are also on offer, concocted mainly with seasonal tropical fruit. There's a wide range of coffees to suit every taste. The atmosphere is relaxed and it's a pleasure to stroll around Rum + Bean while reading a book or preparing for a day of discovering San Pedro.

Right on the water, this wine bar is ideal for watching the sun set over the Caribbean Sea while sipping a glass. Wines come from all over and can be accompanied by amuse-bouches and dishes prepared according to the chef's whims. Lobster rolls, burgers and Jamaican-style chicken are often on the menu. Try papaya sections dipped in a black bean sauce, it's delicious and unique.

In the evening, it's the best place to eat hearty, solid Mexican food for less. Fajitas, burritos and other Mexican specialties are excellent - we're on the Mexican border, let's not forget. It's also the hub of the local nightlife, serving coffee, juices and cold beer late into the night, until the last customers leave. Numerous dance parties are organized with live bands, giving the place the air of a nightclub at the end of the world.

If you have a hankering for roulettes or slot machines, you can come to the Princess Hotel, where a large casino awaits you in the lobby. You'll find all the great classic games, plus over 400 slot machines. 14 tables with dealers for blackjack or baccarat will give you a chance to win. Every evening, dancers perform at 10:30 p.m., and a free buffet starts at midnight. If you're lucky, you'll also be treated to a live performance by a local band.

The place has the advantage of overlooking the Haulover River, notably from a very pleasant terrace where you can enjoy the warm hours of the day in the shade. The room, in a very traditional pub vein, is perfect for drinking a large pint of cold beer and enjoying a good burger like nowhere else. The atmosphere is that of a posh sports bar, with a loyal clientele that keeps the place packed to the rafters. A great place to meet working Belizeans, who often come here for lunch with colleagues or friends.

If you're feeling a little peckish at the start of the evening, come and fill up on fermented grape juice in this pretty wooden shack. You can choose from a wide selection of wines by the glass or, depending on the severity of your case, by the bottle: Portugal, France, Argentina, USA, Mexico. Champagne is even available. And to top it all off, local and imported cheeses and charcuterie boards are available.

Unpretentious but very friendly bar, ideally located on the downtown beach, near the ferry terminal. All the great classic cocktails are served by a friendly and cheerful team. Live music on a regular basis, and happy hour usually from 5pm to 7pm, but sometimes as early as 2pm (2 cocktails for the price of one). Concerts here are very popular with locals and travelers alike, and the atmosphere is friendly and good-natured. The DJs who come to Wayo's Beach Bar are sometimes famous in the country, and the music is top-notch.
