Read moreThe vineyard is located on a hillside overlooking the Shoalhaven River, 12 km south of Berry on tourist route no. 6. The view is impressive enough to merit a detour in its own right. The first vines on the estate were planted in 2003. Since 2006, they have been serving Shiraz, Cabernet, Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Chambourcin and Verdelho wines. On-site tastings are also available, so bring your own picnic. We recommend the Sunday Afternoon, a white wine made from Verdelho and Chardonnay (dry and fruity).

The first vineyard was established in 1967, in Vasse Felix (a vineyard to add to your itinerary!). Following its success, a number of winemakers settled in, a mixture of family businesses, such as Cherubino, with Spanish influence, or big brands, such as Cape Mentelle, now owned by Moët. They often have several grape varieties in the same vineyard, so you will see Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz cohabiting.

The wines from this winery are all handcrafted, traditional in approach, with modern equipment and minimal or no preservatives. James Halliday gave this winery a great reputation, confirmed by the awarding of medals for many of their local wines. It is best to book in advance.
MARQ Wines

Owner Mark, a biochemist by training, uses science in his experiments to create unique, refined wines. The tasting includes no fewer than 16 wines, each more original than the last, and costs just AU$10, which is deducted from the price if you buy a bottle. The friendly staff offer detailed explanations and fascinating anecdotes with every glass.
