This is a major event for a society that has given this sport a special cultural place since 1930. Each year, the event is widely followed by the whole community and entire charters are chartered to allow the most distant to reach the island. In parallel to this event, a large art auction is held. This is the only day of the year when no one needs a permit to go to Tiwi, but beware, places are limited!

The Midsumma festival usually takes place over 22 days during the Melbourne summer (January/February). A popular festival, this event focuses on queer culture and features both local and international performers. For almost three weeks each year, the streets of Melbourne are adorned with the famous rainbow flag. The program consists of various art forms including visual arts, live music, theater, spoken word, cabaret, film, parties, sports, social events and debates.

The Adelaide Festival of Arts has been held annually in Adelaide since 1960.
