Join us for a private or shared excursion aboard one of our Victoria or Matteo boats for a pleasant fishing trip, usually "catch and release", in the magnificent Oslo Fjord.

Victoria is our 10-meter VIP boat, and can accommodate up to 10 people. Matteo is 7 meters long and accommodates a maximum of 6 to 7 people. See the website for more information and photos.

Captain Glenn will show beginners and experienced anglers alike how to fish our calm waters using light tackle and a variety of techniques. In 20 years of operation, no one has ever been seasick!

Oslo fjord boat fishing (OFBF) offers 3-hour trips, including rod rental, coffee and pastries, as well as the possibility of a transfer to/from the city center. On request, we can take certain species of fish to prepare and eat as a "catch of the day" in our house and gardens. The above options can be customized.

BOTANICAL GARDEN (BOTANISK HAGE)

Parks and gardens
4/5
1 review

A beautiful botanical garden belonging to the university's natural history museum and created in 1814. It is home to no less than 7,500 different species and is one of Oslo's favourite places to walk. Several different areas are dedicated to specific themes:

The Herb Garden: it houses medicinal and poisonous plants, spices and a section dedicated to kitchen herbs where you can find edible plants, seeds and berries.

The Systematic Garden: the main interest is to study the relationship between flowers and their evolution.

The Arboretum: here are grouped Scandinavian trees, tropical species and very rare ones such as the gingko and the tulip tree.

The Greenhouses: several 19th century glasshouses with different themes: the Amazon, Evolution, the Mediterranean, the Desert. As one can imagine, tropical plants are found here, including magnificent water lilies.

The Viking Garden: here we discover what the Vikings ate.

The Great-Granny's Garden: translated as "the garden of the great-granny", it is not surprising to find here very old species of flowers or even non-existent elsewhere. A true museum of flowers.

The Rock Garden: a design of rocks and waterfalls to present mountainous plants from different regions of the world.

The Aromatic Garden: designed for the visually impaired, the nose is used as a guide here thanks to the many plants and flowers very fragrant.

TROLL ROAD (TROLLSTIGVEGEN)

Natural site to discover
4.9/5
9 reviews

The Troll Road is the most visited tourist route in Norway. This route includes the famous section called Trollstigen, the Troll Ladder, or The Golden Route. From the end of June to the 10th of August, the Troll Route Museum is open. Climb up Ørnesvingen, the Eagle Bend, a ledge from which you can enjoy a last magnificent view of Geiranger and the fjord. After 20 km, take the Eidsdal-Linge ferry. The road passes through high mountain scenery for about 40 km before starting the descent to Trollstigen. For hundreds of years, an old mule track, climbing up the 180 m high Stigfossen waterfall, was the only communication route between the fjords in Sunnmøre and Romsdal counties. It is now a hiking trail (for those not prone to vertigo). The new Trollstigen road, completed in 1936, winds its way up the side of the mountain with 11 sharp bends and a gradient of 12%. The road, which closes for the winter from mid-September, is not recommended for caravans. Before starting the descent there is a mountain hut, Trollstigen Fjellstue, with a souvenir stand and a cafeteria. A footpath behind the lodge leads to a breathtaking viewpoint near the Giant's Potholes. On the road, from the bend called Bispesvingen, or Bishop's Bend, there is a beautiful view of Åndalsnes and the Romsdal Fjord.

The museum opened in 1991, on the edge of an area excavated for rock engravings discovered in 1973. This is the largest area of its kind in Northern Europe, and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It was quickly voted best European museum in 1993, with 3,000 open-air engravings dating from 2,500 to 7,000 years ago. Inside the building, the museum features exhibitions on Finnmark's prehistory, Saami culture and the mysterious Komsa culture, named after the nearby mountain (viewpoint of the midnight sun). Superb.

CAP NORD (NORDKAPP)

Natural site to discover
4.5/5
37 reviews
Open - from 10h00 to 12h00

At the end of the cliff of the North Cape was once a place of Sami ritual sacrifices. Today, only a large parking lot remains, a compulsory passage to access the tourist center hidden in the cliff and inaugurated in 1988. No way to avoid paying, the road is surrounded by barriers. Otherwise, you should know that an entry is valid for 24 hours. Many clever people come to pitch their tent in the park. A good way to benefit from an amazing place, a radically different environment, and to save a night in a hotel with a breathtaking view of the sunrise and sunset on the cape! However, you will have to deal with the incessant humming of the coaches which undeniably detracts from the majesty of the place. Anyway, the place has that magic touch because you know you are at the northernmost point, at the end of Europe, and this thought is enough. The road that leads to the North Cape has a lot to do with this. A slow progression, the aridity of the landscapes, everything contributes to make the cape a place apart. If the end of the world is fascinating, the road that leads to it is no less so.

Apart from the view towards a blue horizon, the vast tourist structure carved into the cliffs houses a modern complex of shops, cafeterias and restaurants (where prices are correct). A small museum is dedicated to the first personalities who came to the North Cape. The Italian explorer-priest Pietro Negri, in search of the end of the world, was one of the first tourists to visit the North Cape in 1664. This was followed in 1873 by Oscar II, King of Sweden-Norway, and Louis-Philippe, who had been chased out of France in 1795 and disguised as an ordinary visitor. At the time, the only way to approach the cliffs of the North Cape was by boat, and then climb the 300 m to the top, as the carriage road across the plateau was not opened until 1956. This road will soon be opened again and the physical test will give access to a sumptuous view of this cape.
Inside the hall, a "champagne bar" has been set up facing a panoramic bay with a superb view of the midnight sun which lasts from 16 May to 28 July (when there is no fog). A small outdoor terrace is hung over a 300m precipice overlooking the icy Arctic Ocean. Fog often rises from the ocean, enveloping the tip of the North Cape, which then seems to float between sky and sea. This is the end of the world! Do it if you can.

VIKING SHIP MUSEUM (VIKINGSKIPSHUSET)

Specialized museum
4.4/5
21 reviews

There are only 3 boats in this very sober museum, but what wonders! They were found in Tune, Gokstad and Oseberg in the excavations of Tune, Gokstad and Oseberg. They transported Vikings banned in Iceland and Greenland, crossed the North Sea to America for a failed settlement attempt, entering the Mediterranean to Istanbul to trade or to carry out bloody raids. The Bateau boat, the largest and best preserved, was the tomb of a Viking queen. The objects exhumed are entirely unique, such as these terrifying heads of stylised dragon dragon, this astonishing seal adorned by a Buddha attesting to trade with Asian peoples and this richly carved trolley with a Gunnar representation in the snake pit, which is no other than Wagner's «Günther du Ring» (inspired by ancient Nordic legends).

VIGELAND PARK (VIGELANDSPARKEN)

Fine arts museum
4.6/5
18 reviews

Gustav Vigeland (1869-1943) was a Norwegian sculptor known for his immense contribution to Oslo's artistic life. He was the creator of Frogner Park, or Parc Vigeland, where many of his sculptures are displayed. He remains a unique sculptor, and an eminent symbol of Norwegian art on the international scene. Vigeland Park is one of the country's most visited attractions, welcoming almost a million visitors a year. In summer, it's not uncommon to see city dwellers sunbathing in their bathing suits on one of the many lawns, wireless headphones in their ears. Since 1924, Vigeland Park has been collecting and exhibiting the granite and wrought-iron works of the Norwegian artist whose name it bears. 214 of the 650 statues and drawings the artist created for the park are on display today, and they are among Oslo's strongest symbols. It is the world's largest sculpture park dedicated to a single artist. The park is considered Vigeland's life's work: in fact, he devoted almost 20 years of his life to its creation! It's a must-see place that reflects the Norwegian philosophy of giving nature pride of place. The park is the result of a dispute between Vigeland and the city of Oslo: Vigeland was evicted from his home in 1921, but relocated by the city to the building that is now the Vigeland Museum. In exchange for his new premises, home and studio, he promised to donate all his works to the City of Oslo. These massive sculptures come in all sizes, according to several main themes: death, daily life, men and women, children. It's also a very pleasant, clean place to stroll, whatever the season. Local residents go jogging here. Among the most famous statues are the Angry Boy(Sinnataggen) and the Monolith(Monolitten), which dominates the park at a height of 17 metres, and the imposing bronze fountain which, with its 20 statues, represents the circle of life, the Wheel of Life(Livshjulet). The first section to be opened to the public, in 1940, was the famous bridge: 100 metres long and 15 metres wide, with almost 60 statues on display. A fun walk for the whole family, to feel a little at home in the middle of the city! All year round.

FUNICULAR (FLØIBANEN)

Natural site to discover
4.3/5

The tourist brochures praise two beautiful views of the city: Fløyen and Ulriken. The Ulriken cable car is further from the centre. The funicular to Fløyen Hill is undoubtedly the most pleasant, taking you up to 320 m in 7 minutes and offering a superb view of the fjord. It is only 150 m from the market. It is also possible to go for a walk... or to go back down on a perfectly marked path, on the side of the mountain and in a beautiful vegetation. There is also a nice café and a shop.

NATIONAL MUSEUM (NASJONALMUSEET)

Fine arts museum
4.9/5
7 reviews

With a total surface area of 54,600m2, the new national gallery will, from June 2022, house around 5,000 works, from classical paintings to modern art, architecture to contemporary art, design and objects from Antiquity to the present day. The2nd floor is devoted to the visual arts from the 15th century to the present day. Temporary exhibitions in the Light Hall, a 2,400m2 space that will host artists not already exhibited in the museum. In this hall, a 7 m-high ceiling is provided for special installations, and the outer walls are made of a marble panel between two glass panels to give a particular and lasting effect. The museum's exhibits include Gustav Vigeland's bas-relief Helvetet(Hell), which shows Rodin's influence, P.-N. Arbo's romantic-kitsch paintings Åsgårdsreien (The Knights of the Apocalypse), the Romantic period (1820-1870) with J.-C. Dahl's Stalheim Landscape , more beautiful than life itself. Dahl's larger-than-life Stalheim landscape, the accuracy of which you can verify by following the route from Bergen to Flåm. Portrait painter Adolphe Tidemand and landscape artist Hans Gude sometimes combined their talents to paint landscapes with figures. Curiously avant-garde for his time, Peder Balke's dark, sepia-toned northern seascapes narrowly missed out on a fresco commission at the Château de Versailles. Erik Werenskiold's Peasant Burial is painted in the realist tradition of the 1880s. The neo-romanticism of the 1890s in the astonishing Vinternatt i Rondane, Winter Night in Rondane, which took Harald Solberg some fifteen years to complete in these icy mountains. In an impressionist mood, Kitty Kielland's Sommernatt fra Jaeren, Summer Night at Jaeren, expresses the exceptional light of this part of the south coast. And above all, a room devoted to some twenty paintings by Edvard Munch, including The Scream, Madonna and The Sick Child.

Take your time to visit this superb new gigantic museum (architects Kleihues + Schuwerk), and return several times rather than saturate! Also outdoor restaurant, café, wifi, events and workshops for all ages. Magnificent views over Oslo from the terrace at the top of this museum. A winning bet for the city of Oslo, which now boasts the largest art museum in Scandinavia. It's also an opportunity to see works that have never been shown before, due to lack of space.
