Opened in 1940, this 20-kilometer-long railroad is one of the steepest in the world, with a vertical drop of 864 meters. As you travel up the steep, narrow valley, you will see powerful waterfalls, gorges, rivers and small farms. Arriving at the Myrdal train station, located at 867 meters above sea level, you can continue your journey to Oslo or Bergen, or rent a bike and ride back down the valley

The Flåm Railway is considered one of the most spectacular train journeys in the world and is one of Norway's most popular tourist attractions. This iconic train departs from Flåm station at the inland end of the Aurlandsfjord. As you travel up the narrow, steep and lush Flåm valley, you will see powerful waterfalls, deep gorges and small mountain farms. The top station is Myrdal, 867 meters above sea level, where you can catch trains to Oslo or Bergen.
The railroad was inaugurated in 1940 and is proof of bold and skilful engineering. The 20 kilometer long railway line is one of the steepest in the world, with a difference in altitude of 864 meters and an average gradient of 1 in 18.
The train ride can be combined with other activities, such as the Flåm Zipline, hiking and biking.
