It was here that the Spanish established their headquarters in the war of Independence. On March 18, 1814, Captain Antonio Ricaute (statufié at the entrance, under Gómez, in 1911) will enter the powder reserve to detonate her. In the reconstituted house, the small museum of military history exhibits original pieces (time weapons, uniforms, letters, furniture). The gunners will note the presence of cannons, recovered from a boat in Puerto Cabello.

Read moreCreated in 1981, this museum covers the pre-Hispanic period until today. It discovers interesting palaeontological and archaeological exhibits. Since its creation, the museum has participated in numerous investigative works in the area of Cumaná, mainly towards the cerro de caiguire where futt discovered an animal fossil of mégathérium (long tail toothless mammals) dating from Pleistocene (the third time of the néogène system which covers most of the recent glaciations, i. e. 15 000 years). More recently, the museum also presents collections of the Venezuelan colonial period, peasant and indigenous cultures.
