BLAENAVON IRONWORKS

The various stages of the process are shown, and the caves are used as giant refrigerators. The tour naturally ends with a tasting of the different varieties. Every cheddar has its own particularity!
WELLBROOK BEETLING MILL

It teaches that beetling is the last operation in the manufacture of flax: the fabric is hammered with pilon to give it a united and glossy finish. The beetles (drumsticks) of the Filature spinning have been restored.
GLENGYLE KILKERRAN DISTILLERY
Read moreThis distillery was founded by William Mitchell in 1872. He had previously owned Springbank with his brother John. You can learn the history of this family as well as the different names of whiskies that have become established here. Several tours are offered. The £10 tour lasts one hour and tells you about the genesis of the distillery and how whisky is made. It ends with the tasting of a dram of spirit and the gift of a miniature.
BELHAVEN BREWERY
Read moreBelhaven is one of Scotland's leading beer brands and you've bound to have come across it at the pub counter in Scotland. It is said to have been brewing in Dunbar since 1719, where its premises are still located. Its high level of activity restricts visits to groups of 12 and it is necessary to make reservations on their website or by telephone. Fans will still take the trouble, because the tour lasts no less than 2 hours and plunges into the heart of the history of the site and its manufacturing process. A tasting is of course organized at the end!

NATIONAL SLATE MUSEUM
Read moreThe park was once a slate mining centre. The museum is located in a former Victorian workshop. Dinorwig's quarry was huge, 3,000 men worked here, whose activity and movements shaped the landscape. The display of miners' and engineers' tools is intended to be as realistic as possible. It gives the impression that the workers have just left the mine to go home! Recently, 4 workers' houses on the site were reconstructed to give a glimpse of what their domestic life could have been like.
Y FELIN MILL
Read moreThe date of the same time as the abbey (th century) and would probably have been the property of the monks. The aeronautical engineer Michael Hall bought the ruins a few years ago to put it in operation! This is done today. The wheel rotates again in the small river and you sell flour and breads made from it.

ANNANDALE DISTILLERY
Read moreAnnandale Distillery is one of the few distilleries in the South of Scotland. The site was bought in 2007 by enthusiasts, who wanted to bring it back to life. In 2018-2019, they released their very first single malt. It was an immediate success, as it was named in 2020 "Best Single Cask, Single Malt Scotch Whisky - 10 Years and Under" (Jim Murray's 2019 and 2020 Whisky Bibles). The distillery can be visited. It also has a beautiful store and a very pleasant café, The Malting Coffe Shop, where it is good to settle.

CRUACHAN POWER STATION - THE HOLLOW MOUNTAIN
